JOB OVERVIEW:
The Associate Director of Operations is responsible for managing house operations for Residential Education, which oversees Stanfordâs undergraduate residential community consisting of a total population of 6500+ students (96% of undergraduates for all four years) in 70+ student residences of various types (Resident Fellow-led or student-managed; all-frosh or upperclass; university or ethnic themes, etc.) staffed by 400+ residential student staff. The house operations responsibilities include serving as primary liaison to two external dining vendors and overseeing the 39 commercial kitchens-in-residence they serve; managing operational housing assignment processes including pre-assignment, draw exemption, and in-house draw; and management of student staff operational processes including keyblock changes and early arrival and extended stay. This role works particularly closely with colleagues in Residential & Dining Enterprises to coordinate kitchen emergency response, kitchen construction projects, kitchen equipment maintenance, and building access requests. The person in this role will also manage projects focused on improving our protocols and policies for financial operations for a subset of houses, including financial reserves and damage billing.
The Associate Director of Operations reports directly to an Associate Dean of Residential Education, and works closely with colleagues in the department and across the University.
JOB PURPOSE:
Lead and manage programs or functions under minimal supervision. Liaise with senior management and cross functional areas and schools to implement this vision and strategy.
CORE DUTIES*:

Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.

Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.

Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function.

Represent the program or function within the department, unit or school by committing resources and provide information and/or training. Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.

Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.

May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.

Assess training needs and may develop associated training.

May direct and/or supervise staff.
