The Vice President Investor Relations will report into the CFO of Viad Corp and will be responsible for proactively reaching out to and interacting with the investment community (buy-side, sell-side, and financial media) to position, brand and market the value proposition that investing in Viad has to offer. This dynamic individual with strong financial acumen along with a keen marketing sense will be working constantly to sell the Viad story. This role will be supported by cross functional resources, have high visibility within the organization.
]Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage a targeted strategy for investor relations, ensuring IR initiatives are effectively linked to corporate goals and deliver a high quality, consistent investor experience.
- Write communications for earnings and press releases, own creating and drafting investor presentations to build on the Viad brand and promote investment opportunities.
- Serve as primary liaison and maintain positive relationships with the investment community (including institutional investors, sell-side analysts and others who make or influence stock purchase decisions).
- Schedule, facilitate and conduct meetings (conference calls, road shows and investment conferences) with investors and analysts to promote investment and sell-side coverage.
- Prepare executive management for investor events and earnings calls. Support senior executives at investor conferences and be a resource for information. Own and prepare corporate presentations and key investor messages by working with multiple functional groups.
- Prepare regular updates regarding shareholder matters for Viad’s executive team and Board of Directors.
- Oversee the distribution of Viad’s press releases and serve as primary Viad liaison for all media inquiries. Review/edit business unit press releases to ensure consistency, quality and accuracy of external messaging.
- Monitor Viad’s presence in the media (including its business units, executives and Board members) and provide timely/relevant updates to management.
- Provide feedback to management regarding the investment community’s perception of how the company is being managed and their view of its financial results.
- Develop shareholder targeting analytics and implement plan for engaging shareholders.
- Track turnover in shareholder base to identify and evaluate changes in the holder mix based on investment style, holding periods and geographic concentrations.
- Perform industry benchmarking that could include level of disclosure and presentation format.
- Serve as central source for educating and updating investors on the Company’s performance.
- Responsible for the Viad Corporate website which would include ESG-related disclosures.
Qualifications:
- 10 + years of Marketing or PR a plus.
- BS or BA required. MBA strongly preferred.
- Degree in finance, accounting or economics is preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing and interact effectively with executive management, and board.
- Has a high-level understanding of financial statements and valuation models.
- Possesses excellent verbal, interpersonal communications, and business writing skills.
- Exceptional and demonstrated understanding of how strategy and business execution impact financial performance and value creation.
- Strong ability to convey strategic and financial messages in written materials, financial models and data analysis.
- Executive Presence: gravitas, confidence, ability to present to the investing community, a CEO (C-Suite leadership team), and Board of Directors.
- Effective Relationship Building: strong relationships with the investors and analysts, financial media a plus with demonstrated success in growing and managing superior client relationships.
- Financial Acumen: capital markets, accounting and finance, financial modeling, extensive experience with reporting, financial disclosures, quarterly earnings releases, shareholder activism and the regulatory landscape.
- Ability to understand and translate the Viad “story” behind the numbers and anticipate questions.
- Leadership Skills: strong management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following industries is beneficial: hospitality, meetings & events, marketing services, labor-based services and commercial real estate.
- Ability to create compelling presentations that speak to the investment community. Power user of Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Some travel is required (up to 30%).
