Reporting to NPCA’s President & CEO and a member of the executive leadership team, the Sr. Vice President of Development provides leadership to all aspects of the Development program and is responsible for developing and implementing the fundraising strategy to meet the $250 million Protecting America’s Legacy campaign goal. The Sr. Vice President is expected to lead and mentor a cohesive Development team that raises more than half of the organization’s revenue annually. This includes major gifts, foundations, planned giving, events and our educational travel program. The Sr. Vice President is a thought partner to the CEO in the execution of the organization’s fundraising strategy. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, visionary leader who engenders an organizational culture of philanthropy. The candidate must have the presence, stature, and sophistication to engage the highest levels of leadership in NPCA including governance volunteers, high net worth donors and partners, inspiring them to envision even greater levels of involvement with the organization.
The candidate is an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record in developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan and securing six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals. The candidate must have experience engaging members of a Board of Trustees, working with a Philanthropy Committee to be strategic thought partners and participants to advance fundraising goals. The candidate must also have proven success as a motivating manager who has considerable experience leading and mentoring a large team; The candidate is someone who can adapt quickly to changing needs and circumstances and can operate in a culture that highly values collaboration.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in fundraising/related duties and at least five (5) years of managing team of 10 or more staff.
Salary is based on location and experience.
Salary range in Washington, DC: $165,000 – $225,000
