The Regional Director (Senior Team Leader) is responsible for the effective, efficient and profitable operation of the Team. This individual works together with other team members to assure all objectives and goals of the department, Southwest Regional Office and Global Team as communicated by Regional Leadership and the Sr. Team Leader, are met or exceeded. In addition, the Sr. Team Leader abides by the strictest standards of accepted professional practices. This is a full-time, salaried position based in Austin, Texas at the Southwest Regional Office. This position reports to the team’s point Executive Leader.


Responsibilities

  • Category management and data analysis to ensure the proper mix of local/regional products to complement Global offerings
  • Embrace and understand the dynamic of process change; willingness to grow and evolve as we embrace Category Management and the role of Local/Regional procurement
  • Review, negotiate price, purchase and coordinate delivery of department products
  • Regularly visit stores; demonstrate and ensure the highest quality customer care
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends and regularly visits the competition
  • Establishes Regional vision and goals designed to keep WFM on the cutting edge
  • Set policies and guidelines to ensure Team Members are properly trained in safe and efficient work practices; recommend use of applicable personal protective equipment and ergonomic devices to prevent Team Member strain or injury
  • Communicate regularly with Store Team Leaders, in-store Team Leaders and Team Members regarding proper operations of the department as well as company goals and objectives
  • Ensure standards for product quality and freshness are understood and upheld by all department Team Leaders and Team Members
  • Review product mix at each store and make changes when appropriate
  • Partner with Global Category Management to assess regional and local opportunities and procure relevant products to complement these sets
  • Set departmental policies and procedures for cleaning/sanitizing, records and security
  • Ensure policies and procedures are understood and upheld by Team Leaders and Team Members
  • Assist Store Team Leaders with recruitment, interviews, training, job dialogues and counseling
  • Know and communicate relevant regulatory rules and standards
  • Conducts effective monthly department meetings
  • Establish guidelines for the training and use of all department equipment and tools
  • Identify and coordinate training needs for all department team members
  • Regularly review merchandising within the department and recommend improvements
  • Conducts and coordinates Team trainings and Team builds
  • Assist in establishing gross and contribution profit goals
  • Ensure that quality personnel are being developed and trained for future stores
  • Negotiates and procures/recommends department equipment
  • Help open new stores and coordinate department remodeling of existing stores
  • Review and monitor labor, purchases and other relevant expenses to ensure that the team expenses are within budget
  • Support struggling teams in any way necessary to help them succeed
  • Coordinate product tastings and demos when appropriate
  • Ability to work independently and maintain high productivity
  • Practice proper care and maintenance of all equipment
  • Report safety violations and hazards immediately
  • Attend all department, RCO, Global and training meetings when scheduled
  • Ensure that projects are completed and deadlines are met
  • Regular attendance is essential
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Regional Leadership


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Successful track record as a Regional Associate Coordinator equivalent (internal only)
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the field
  • Able to meet physical job requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively with others and convey enthusiasm
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Must be self-motivated and solution oriented, and have good follow through
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours
  • High level of creativity and vision
  • Can travel frequently within the region and occasionally outside the region
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
