The Training Manager is responsible and accountable for the design, implementation, delivery, and administration of initial and ongoing employee education. Implements and ensures compliance for company policies, procedures and guidelines as well as actions that support teamwork and team development. Establishes plant training metrics in support of the company’s overall business objectives. Aligns learning strategies to drive growth and development, strengthen organizational performance, and continuously improve critical skills, knowledge, and capabilities. Partners with cross-functional teams to maintain focus on needs of the business. Coordinate hourly training and cross-training; provide salaried development; oversee new hire hourly and salaried orientation; act as the master trainer – TWI (Training Within Industry); manage skills certification process; organize and maintain training standards; identify and maintain training resources; seek and obtain grants; partner with local schools to maintain Apprenticeship program for Maintenance Technicians and internship opportunities.

1. (60%) Training and Development:

a. Manage the design, development, and roll-out of learning content, including delivery of select courses

b. Maintain a “Train the Trainer” program that ensures personnel delivering content do so effectively and to standard

c. Measure and analyze effectiveness of learning and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement with an emphasis on organizational change and business results.

d. Develop and manage a comprehensive site skills certification process; ensuring employees are qualified to perform their job duties and can flow to the work effectively when short staffed.

e. Partner with front line leadership and production managers regarding employee training needs

f. Evolves a learning culture in various levels and functions, while establishing a development mindset

g. Provide direction to source training and development opportunities for the growth of salaried and hourly employees.

h. Responsible for overseeing the New Hire Orientation and initial training process.

i. Establish electronic training platform to ensure ease of access to training materials for all employees; Ongoing supervision and development of learning management system

j. Identify training sources to meet specific training needs.

k. Audit Standard work, ensuring employees are following standard methods.

l. Adjust personal schedule when necessary to accommodate the needs of the team, which may include working off-shift and/or weekend hours

2. (30%) Planning and Budgeting

a. Manage the plant’s Education and Training Budgets.

b. Identifies gaps between ideal and actual performance and determines performance deficiencies; aligns learning solutions to drive business goals

c. Seek and obtain grants, working closely with local colleges; accelerates training agenda via alternative support.

d. Develop strategic training & development plans annually to meet business needs.

e. Participates in turnover reduction strategies as it relates to training and development
