The Human Resource Manager is responsible for working closely with the Vice President of Operations, Directors of Operations, and General Managers, this position will provide overall Employee Relations support for 35 to 40 amazing Wendy’s restaurants in a multi-state environment. As a Human Resource Manager, you will help craft memorable employment experiences to ensure Wendy’s is living its promise of creating and keeping customers and employees.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Effectively investigate and resolve team member relations issues, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, manager misconduct, and wage-and-hour violations in accordance with Wendy’s policies, practices and procedures and applicable federal and state law

Provide consultation, guidance, and coaching to ensure the consistent interpretation, application and resolution of employment issues, in the areas of: performance management, state/federal labor laws, conflict resolution and termination procedures in accordance with Wendy’s polices, practices and procedures including the Team Member Handbook and Wendy’s Code of Integrity, Ethics and Conduct

Investigate and prepare Wendy’s response to federal and state agency complaints associated with alleged violations of federal and state employment law

Maintain working knowledge of both federal and state wage-and-hour laws, including minimum wage tip credit, overtime, rest and meal break, and final pay provisions, for assigned region

Collaborate with senior operations leaders and other functional departments to facilitate manager development opportunities and training in the areas of performance management, conflict resolution, team member engagement, relevant employment laws, and respectful workplace
Track and analyze team member relations issue trends, diagnose root causes, and develop recommendations for corrective strategies

Conduct in-field training meetings and round tables to advance manager knowledge and skill in effectively managing staff and personnel issues

Partner with operations leaders regarding leave of absence and disability accommodation inquiries to ensure compliance with federal and state leave of absence and disability laws and policies

Review and assist with evaluating VOW surveys and providing input on action plans to improve
Assist with other projects as assigned by Vice President of Operations

Provides the direction, development, and guidance to the organization to achieve the business strategies and plans

Partners with leadership to develop talent and create bench strength at all levels by creating and deploying processes and systems

Develop new ideas and bring in best practices to support the restaurant operators at all levels

Necessary Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) to eight (8) years of Employee Relations or Human Resources Manager experience
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and best practices of Human Resource administration, policy interpretation and conflict resolution
  • Experience with multi-unit, multi-state organizations
  • Excellent organization and time management skills. Capable of effective planning and priority setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, verbal skills and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • High sense of urgency and understanding of confidentiality/privacy requirements
  • Willingness to travel to assigned area on a regular basis for investigations and training
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lawson preferred
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
