We are looking for an exceptional Director IT Vendor Management to help build and chart a course for IT Vendor Management for Grainger’s Enterprise Systems organization so that Grainger continues to be the destination for “the ones that get it done.”
The Director IT Vendor management will work with Grainger technology leaders to define and build the IT Vendor Management practice and organization, that establishes and sustains holistic and trusted relationships with Grainger’s IT Vendors, creating mutual value in a transparent and predictable way that is flexible and scalable over the long term. This role will work closely with IT leadership, Procurement and Legal to ensure the IT vendor portfolio is well managed and is value driven. The Director IT Vendor management is skilled at recruiting, leading and retaining talented vender management professionals. The role will be responsible for designing and developing the IT vendor management processes focusing on vendor relationship management, risk management, and performance management. This role will be will be responsible for leading cross-functional work and prioritizing the use of IT vendor management resources.
The Director – IT Vendor Management will be responsible for either the direct execution of the following tasks, or the oversight of resources charged with these tasks:
Key Activities:
Team Leadership:
- Sets the direction, mission and vision for the vendor management team and vendor management capability in alignment with the objectives of the Enterprise Systems and the business.
- Design, deployment and improvement of Vendor Management organization, operating model and processes.
- Develop strategy plan, road map, and annual operating plan for IT Vendor Management.
- Recruit and manage personnel assigned to the Vendor Management team.
- Direct and Lead collaboration between Enterprise Systems and Procurement, Legal, and Finance organizations to maximize contract value and mitigate risk.
Vendor Management:
- Manage regular executive level business review meetings and prep senior leaders for those reviews.
- Assess, report and mitigate the risk level of vendors based on financial, contractual and operating concerns.
- Ensure there are clear metrics across all key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure strong performance management.
- Direct the communications and negotiation processes with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Manage the relationships with vendors for cost-effectiveness, maintain a vendor repository to ensure effective contract management and vendor relationships, and ensure that change management procedures/methodologies are used.
- Ensure all contracting actions, events and entitlements are communicated to the appropriate teams.
- Optimize contract, performance, relationship and risk management processes.
- Collect reporting requirements and develop vendor scorecards and dashboards that present relevant data tailored to the audience.
- Focus vendor performance metrics on technical, process and business outcomes, such as innovation, competitive advantage and increased revenue. Define and hold strategic vendors to higher performance standards and drive continuous improvement.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Or equivalent demonstrated work experience.
- Typically has 10 years of relevant business/industry work experience including vendor management, procurement, asset management, IT operations.
- 7+ years leading teams
- Related industry certification desirable like:
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
- Certified Technology Procurement Executive (CTPE)
- Demonstrated Ability to influence executive level management and key stakeholders.
- Experienced at negotiating high dollar technology deals.
- Working knowledge of technology contract management and negotiation
- Knowledge of the IT industry and the products and services provided by technology vendors
- Experience in successfully leading a team in the management of vendors/third parties, including, but not limited to, policies, performance, vendor risk, relationships, contracts (including negotiations), and issue and dispute resolution
- Solid grasp of financial concepts
- Strong ability to manage, train and motivate team members
