Title: Director of Finance and Human Resources

Opportunity and Job Description
The Vermont Studio Center seeks a Director of Finance & Human Resources. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of five years of proven financial leadership, HR experience, and information technology management preferably with a non-profit organization.
The VSC Director of Finance & Human Resources is responsible for the leadership of all VSC finance, human resources and information technology activity carried on in accordance with the best practices available to non-profit organizations.
The VSC Director of Finance & Human Resources reports directly to the VSC Executive Director, serves as liaison to the Finance and Audit Committees of the Board of Trustees, and works collaboratively with other directors on the VSC senior management team.
Specific responsibilities include:
Finances
- lead the annual budget process
- manage the Center’s annual audit and 990 with external auditors
- respond to audit points, implementing corrections on a timely basis
- plan for and advise on long-range financial strategy and tactics
- implement accounting best practices, including internal controls
- prepare reports for the Executive Director and Board of Trustees
- coordinate with VSC Endowment Fund Manager
- assure that all of the center’s tax and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time.
Human Resources
- oversee employee files/benefits, including health insurance and 401K
- ensure VSC policies and job descriptions a re current and on file
- be knowledgeable about and apply current HR laws regarding employee practices and benefits
- oversight of and ability to perform accounting functions and payroll
- represent V SC to banks, insurance companies, benefit providers, etc.
Information Technology
- oversee the IT function in conjunction with the IT Administrator
- work with t he IT Administrator to assure high quality connectivity, meeting administrative software and hardware needs and support
- be cognizant of and supportive of VSC artist resident’s technology needs
The ideal VSC Director of Finance & Human Resources is experienced with digital, web, and cloud-based technologies and payment portals, and possesses a working knowledge of or can quickly develop such knowledge for relevant software including Salesforce, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel.
The VSC Director of Finance & Human Resources must be attentive to details, able to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and capably communicate with peer VSC senior staff members and the Board of Trustees.
A full-time Accounting & HR Assistant and a full-time IT Administrator report directly to the Director of
Finance & Human Resources.
Salary is commensurate with experience; benefits package included.
