To direct and manage all engineering functions including process engineering, mechanical engineering, Process Safety Management (PSM), and continuous improvement. Develop procedures and guidelines to ensure deliverables meet the quality standards needed for excellent engineering work product. Develop performance metrics, goals, budgets and set priorities for the engineering groups. Coordinate the efforts of the engineering group to provide timely and accurate response to project requirements (both capital and expense improvements). Support and manage the PSM and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization.

This position will report directly to the Regional Director of Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct assigned personnel, set goals and priorities to include participation in business budgeting and forecasting as well as monitoring/reporting on performance to ensure successful financial performance
  • Direct engineering group personnel to assure high quality process engineering, mechanical engineering and design within the technical, economic and scheduling requirements of projects.
  • Ensure quality of product is a focus for all engineering personnel. Develop procedures, standards and guidelines that support the delivery of a quality product within the cost and budget constraints of projects
  • Build sustainable processes and procedures which advance standardization, drive out errors, reduce engineering time/costs, and ensure compliance of engineering outputs with project specifications, functional requirements, relevant codes and standards, and established engineering practices.
  • Set up metrics and KPI’s to measure current performance versus goals and drive continuous improvement and elimination of repetitive defects and deficiencies.
  • Participate in the development of sales strategies to improve margins. Participate in the evaluation of new technologies to determine technical and economic viability
  • Assist in Capital project scoping, benefits analysis, and equipment installation.
  • Champion Process Safety Management and Continuous improvement initiatives throughout organization.

Required (Basic/Minimum Qualifications):

  • Minimum of an engineering bachelor’s degree (Chemical Engineering Preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to communicate concisely and accurately across an entire organization ranging from upper management to field personnel
  • Experience leading projects with Lean methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience and/or continuous improvement certification
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and query tools.
  • Strong process development skills.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision with strong initiative and finishing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Change promoter who can develop and motivate others.
  • Hands on attitude to get things done with the ability to manage change to a successful conclusion.

Desired experience:

  • 5 – 8 years of chemical manufacturing experience
  • 3 – 5 years of project / capital management experience
  • 3 – 5 years of PSM experience
  • 3 – 5 years of supervisory experience
