Job Description
Associate Director, Compliance (Job Opening 456560) – Under the general supervision of the Compliance Administrative Director and Privacy Officer, the Associate Director-Privacy is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the HIPAA Compliance Program as a component of the OSUWMC Compliance Plan. HIPAA Privacy compliance is interconnected with the clinical and business operations of The Ohio State University including the Wexner Medical Center and is related to and impacts patient care, teaching, research, and health care operations. Under the general supervision of the Compliance Administrative Director, the Associate Director-Privacy leads, directs and administers the day to day activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the universitya??s HIPAA privacy program in compliance with HIPAA, the universitya??s and the Wexner Medical Centera??s information privacy policies and procedures. Activities include developing and updating policies and procedures, developing and implementing workforce educational activities, monitoring compliance, performing investigations, developing and implementing corrective actions to address any concerns in the area of HIPAA Privacy Rule compliance in addition to other federal and state laws, and collaborating in regard to HIPAA privacy with the university Privacy Office. Manages 4-6 staff as assigned.
Education and Experience
a?? Law degree or Mastera??s degree in health information management, biomedical computing, hospital administration, or related field strongly preferred. a?? Seven years of experience in health care required. a?? Certification in compliance or privacy, or equivalent, at hire or within one year of hire. a?? Progressively responsible experience in a large academic health system. a?? Knowledge and experience in information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. a??
