The Sales Manager – Process plays a key role at TEI and is responsible and accountable for increasing opportunities through the generation of new business and further development of existing accounts maximizing the bookings potential for TEI and achieving TEI’s target bookings and growth plans. The position is responsible for setting strategies and directives in meeting / exceeding TEI bookings, corresponding revenue, and margin targets for the Process Heat transfer Equipment, working hand-in-hand with the Proposals, Engineering, and Global Sourcing Team in securing new business. The position requires consistent and open customer interaction as well as optimal coordination across a multi-departmental team. Additional responsibilities and accountabilities will be for the development and implementation of WINNING proposal strategies to maximize sales.
Essential Responsibilities:
As Sales Manager – Process, major specific functions of this position include but are not limited to the following key items:
- Represent our company with comprehensive understanding of our product offerings
- Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short and long-term sales and earnings.
- Responsible for early identification of opportunities from plant level sources
- Pre-qualify, analyze and forecast “key” sales opportunities
- Development of Sales Strategies working closely with the Proposal Management Team
- Exceeds Target Bookings Plan
- Perform development, sales and technical presentations in the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast region
- Directly manage client accounts and provide senior level assistance and oversight in the development of winning sales proposals and responses to request for proposals (RFPs).
- Cultivate and develop strong, long-term client relationships to understand their needs.
- Meet all requirements for weekly, monthly, and quarterly appointment / client visitation activity
- Manage and forecast regional business opportunities providing regular, weekly reports to executive and sales management.
- Negotiate critical issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies.
- Coordinate Client involvement of other TEI company personnel when needed, including support resources, team members, and management.
- Provides close assistance with the establishment of Sales Bookings targets during the Strategic Planning and Annual Budgeting process.
MINIMUM SKILL SETS
- High level of communication with internal and external customers at varying levels including Senior Managers. Outstanding communications skills required.
- Proficient in creating sales and technical presentations and presenting to Plant and Corporate staffs.
- Proven track record of success with the sales cycle form plan to close.
- Must possess creativity / adaptability to develop successful business development strategies
- Requires constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability.
- Position requires frequent exercise of decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required with MBA or other Graduate Business Degree preferred. Requires a 5+ years of experience in a sales role with at least 5 – 10 years of direct selling experience to the Refinery, Petrochem, and Chemical Industries. Must be willing to travel frequently and on short notice.
