The Quality Manger will oversee the quality organization for the T34/44/6 CLS contract including Site Quality Managers, Quality Engineers, and Inspectors. Will plan, coordinate and direct quality assurance programs designed to ensure quality of products are consistent with established standards.
Principal Accountabilities
- Formulate and maintain Quality Assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals. Interpret Quality Assurance philosophy to key personnel in organization.
- Review all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures
- Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities
- Prepare and present technical and program information to the management team
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards
- Lead investigations into customer complaints regarding quality, ensure systems are in place to address customer quality issues, returns, complaints.
- Continuously develop and improve the adequacy of existing Quality Assurance procedures and processes.
- Establish, track, analyze, & report on key quality metrics to meet quality requirements within the contract PMF framework
- Lead, mentor, & coach your QA/QC team by promoting a culture of quality awareness
- Maintain organizational certifications, e.g., ISO9000, AS9100, etc.
- Manage Continues Improvement projects
- Training of LEAN and Six Sigma to employees
- Work collaboratively with Corporate Quality to develop, implement and sustain a quality-based program that meets or exceeds the company and customer requirements.
- Serve as a quality liaison with Corporate Quality and ensure consistent practices and deliverables meet quality standards.
- Lead and guide improvement initiatives and make high-value improvements across the program.
- Prepare, maintain, enforce, and update the Quality Plan to drive performance using ISO standards across all aspects of the Program.
- Develop and implement program-specific process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular, technical reviews of all ongoing improvement projects and conduct thorough audits of projects in the closure phase.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze program(s) metrics.
- Direct Quality training and implementation.
- Prepare and submit functional area deliverables on schedule in accordance with requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards.
- Empower workforce with stop work authority for quality breaches.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide guidance on related disciplines.
- Seek, share and assist in institutionalizing best practices.
- Establishes and tracks progress toward meeting the goals and objectives of process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure operational personnel comply with established and applicable DI policies and procedures.
- Conduct audits, inspections to ensure compliance with DI policies and procedures and implements corrective actions as required.
- Coordinate with Corporate Continuous Improvement functions as necessary
- Participate in the identification and implementation of all continuous process improvement activities.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance (rotor craft), planning, quality control and supervisory policies, principles, procedures and techniques.
- Working knowledge of analytical methodology, statistical process control and continual process improvement.
- Familiarity with the development and operation of management reporting systems.
- Ability to develop and present senior staff-level briefings and management reports.
- Demonstrated experience with process improvement approaches.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Knowledge of complex aviation maintenance programs, quality control, contracted programs, aircraft maintenance, business administration, customer requirements, and company policies.
- Familiarity with requirements of Navy, National Aerospace Standards (NAS), FAA, FCC and any DoD regulations as they pertain to their respective programs.
- The necessary leadership and management skills to direct assigned personnel and the ability to communicate accurately and concisely on technical matters orally and in writing
- Must have strong leadership abilities with highly developed interpersonal skills
Experience & Education
- Bachelorâs Degree and 6 year(s) related experience, or Associates Degree and 8 year(s) related experience
- Ten (10) years quality assurance related management and direct supervisory experience in a design, manufacturing or production environment
- Must have experience of Quality System, CNAFINST 4790.2-series, OEM Instructions and AS9100C
- Must be able to obtain a level of security clearance required by the government
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt; Black Belt preferred
- Desire:
- ASQ Certified manager of quality and organizational Excellence.
- Significant knowledge and experience with the ISO system.
