Position title
Program Director
Purpose
To provideplanning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, budgeting, reporting,and program development services.
Duties and responsibilities
Human resourcemanagement
· Direct,plan and coordinate the work of the program staff including supervision andevaluation, training and team building
· Organizeand attend weekly departmental meetings to maintain effective communication
· Ensureadequate and qualified staff to carry out the program activities
· Inconsultation with the executive director, responsible for the selection,hiring, coaching, and discipline of the program employees
Program delivery
· Managethe Sports, Arts, Tutoring, Mentorship, and Case Management programs of the organization
· Responsiblefor the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of allactivities of each program in accordance with policies and procedures and NationalStandards
· Remainup-to-date on all modifications to the National Standards implementing the samein a timely and organized manner
· Compile,maintain and report on the monthly, quarterly and annual program statistics
· Analyzetrends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommendingsolutions to the executive director
· Develop,implement and evaluate recruitment strategies to expand the number ofvolunteers to support the program
· Develop,implement and evaluate recruitment strategies to expand the number of clientsparticipating in the program
· Provideprofessional direction and support to employees and volunteers within eachprogram
· Direct,control and evaluate the work of the employees and volunteers within the programs
· Participatein the development of policies
· Provideconsultative services and resources to participants by visitation and attendingmeetings and events
· Prepare,monitor, control and evaluate each programs’ budget
· Ensurethe programs have a comprehensive risk management plan
· Undertakeand implement new initiatives as identified by the organization
· Demonstrateleadership by identifying and addressing staff, volunteer, and participantconcerns Increase the awareness of and further promote a positive image of the organizationand to continuously promote and recruit into the organization
· Managemarketing for each program
· Assumeother related responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
· Engagein professional development and in-service training (as approved or advised bythe Executive Director/CEO) to keep current in the field of leisure services
Mentoring programs
· Responsiblefor the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of allactivities in accordance with National Standards
· Responsiblefor the expansion of the programs forming partnerships where appropriate
· Compile,analyze and report on trends in the programs
· Developand implement recruitment strategies to increase the number of participantsserved by the programs.
Case managementprogram
· Responsiblefor the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of allactivities related to the Case management program including skills developmentworkshops
· Responsiblefor ensuring skills development workshops are relevant in topic and targetedfor the appropriate audiences
· Identifyand form appropriate partnerships for the delivery of workshops and the program
· Collaboratewith university Social Work Programs to promote ongoing MSW internshipopportunities within the case management department
Tutoring program
- Responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities related to the Tutoring Program
- Identify and form partnerships to enhance and increase the number of participants where appropriate
Sports/arts program
· Responsible for implementation,management, supervision and evaluation of all activities related to theSports/Arts program
· When appropriate opportunitiesarise, the director will participate in national and regional committees. Thedirector will attend regional meetings and workshops when budget allows
Local community
- The director of programs will participate in community tables deemed appropriate

Qualifications
· A bachelor’sdegree in Education, Social Services, Human Services, Business Administration, Recreationor optional degrees/diplomas in a related field. A suitable combination ofrelated education and experience may be accepted
· Aminimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in nonprofit management
· Extensiveexperience in working with volunteers
· Knowledgeand working experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and databaseprograms
Skills
· Highlydeveloped skills in administration, personnel management, and finance
· Skillsin human relations (interpersonal relationships), communications (both writtenand verbal), consultation, problem solving, public relations, group dynamics,and public speaking are also required
· Computerliteracy is a must
· Mustbe a strong team player
Salary
The salary forthis position is commensurate with education and experience.
