Human Resources Manager

Job Description:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for upholding the culture and mission for any faculty member at Bennett Day School. To facilitate a thorough hiring process each year, organize faculty development and regular evaluation processes and create and assure compliance with legal and other employment related policies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead Hiring Team in yearly hiring and onboarding process
- Maintains all personnel communication and files
- Measures and defines culture at Bennett Day School, ensuring positive growth
- Assists payroll and benefits administration in collaboration with DFAST
- Hosts weekly HR open hours
- Processes recommendations for the discipline and/or termination of employees, assembling substantiating documentation, and arranging action plans as needed in tandem with Division Heads/Supervisors
- Attend all offer letter meetings in conjunction with faculty Division Heads/Supervisors
- Performs OnBoarding process with all new faculty
- Maintains up-to-date Bennett Day School Faculty Handbook and Administrative handbook with internal policies
- Manages substitute pool and receives planned personal day time requests to fill
- Collaborates with Division Heads/Supervisors to approve personal day requests
- Work with Teacher Appreciation Family Committee to organize perks throughout the year
- Maintain Co-Chair position on BDS Wellness Committee
- Organize internal activities and team-building (work outs, relaxation time, after hours outings, recipe swaps, etc)
- Continues to grow in current Illinois HR knowledge, laws, policies, etc
- Maintains HR memberships (SHRM, HRMAC)
- This is a year-round position, which reports to Director of Finance, Administration and Strategy
Physical Demands:
- Physical ability to perform the above listed essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical strength to independently lift up to 30 lbs.
Education and experience:
- Bachelorâs degree or equivalent experience preferred; courses in ECE/Elementary Education a plus
- Previous experience in a school setting a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively and help others
- Flexibility/adaptability within your work style
- Experience working with teaching faculty
- Experience with proactive and effective problem solving and collaboration
