CATEGORY MANAGER – Healthcare

Versatex

Richmond, VA.

This position is responsible for Purchasing in Healthcare. Will be responsible for ensuring that Versatex will realize increased investment efficiency of monies spent and ensure fair value and service accountability. Will also identify opportunities for operational improvements and seek agreement through consensus management.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive total of ownership improvements including supplier performance and develop the supply base, whilst listening to and delivering results for your stakeholders and in line with the organization’s Business Plan.
  • The delivery of identified improvement projects and activities within the broader context of the Supply Chain & Procurement function
  • Using tools and techniques to profile; research and assess the market; trends and new opportunities etc to ensure continuity of supply; to make sure that best value is achieved and to keep the organization ahead of the competition. The Purchasing Manager will be expected to demonstrate an expert knowledge of Healthcare purchasing.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or other related area; relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years’ of progressively responsible experience in healthcare purchasing
  • Conducts spend analysis and relevant analytical tasks to support and justify sourcing direction and related activity
  • Develops and prepares summary reports and presentations as required
  • Dialogues with suppliers to ensure optimal relationship with respect to product selection, delivery performance, invoice receipt and timely payment
  • Follows up on system usage and proactively ensures compliance to system
  • Identifies, pursues and maximizes opportunities for realizing cost savings without sacrificing the quality, service and reliability expected of our suppliers
  • Manages and monitors organizational compliance with all established supplier agreements
  • Partners with the Sourcing team to establish company-wide procurement systems, tools, processes, policies and procedure
  • Seeks out, builds and maintains trusting and collaborative relationships and alliances with others inside and outside of the organization in ways that accomplish key business objectives; and helps others do the same

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to drug testing, reference verification, and background check.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time during any project implementation effort

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to exert influence on the overall objectives and goals of the department
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, complete work in a timely manner and work well with others
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) and/or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) a plus
  • Must be proficient with PCs, Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management Tools, Ariba or other eSourcing and contracts management systems.
