JOB INFORMATION
This position serves as a strategic advisor to senior clients by implementing best-in-class communications strategies that support business objectives. The Director of Internal Communications is responsible for creating enterprise-wide vision resulting in significant impact. Clients may be internal corporate stakeholders at the senior vice president level or higher and customer-facing business leaders. This position develops an internal communications strategy that informs and engages employees.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and manages the development and implementation of communication strategies to support the company’s products and services. Serves as a day-to-day lead between group and business area management, providing strategic counsel and implementation of communications strategies and initiatives.
- Thinks creatively and provides strategic solutions. Builds client commitment and engagement around strategy. Establishes a trusted advisor relationship with clients and is considered a strategic partner in achieving partners’ business goals and objectives.
- Collaborates both within Communications group and across divisions to deliver consultative, strategic solutions.
- Coaches and mentors direct reports to achieve performance goals that are aligned with department and company goals. Identifies career development opportunities for direct reports. Provides frequent, informal feedback to aid in individual career growth and development.
- Seeks to understand the direction of the company. Serves as a role model for delivering the company’s messages and supporting its vision.
- Identifies and develops new communications channels.
- Manages budget for area of responsibility.
EDUCATION
Bachelor Degree in Journalism, Marketing or related field, or Equivalent; Master or Other Advanced Degree preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
8+ years of related experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Expertise supporting high-visibility enterprise communications
- Experience with executive-level communications, desired
- Ability to manage projects on with time-sensitive deadlines
- Experience mentoring, coaching and developing direct reports for career progression
- Experience with crisis communications
