At EIM, we are reimagining healthcare education to humanize patient care in every community. The VP of Technology Strategy and Innovation is accountable for owning the creation of the overall technology and digital strategy for the business and eventual outcomes of that strategy. This role will help maximize the impact of technology and digital for our users (students and faculty) and our partners. The role will look to understand best practices and evolving trends in EdTech/online education and overall technology landscape and will look to develop innovative approaches to deliver our products and services to our customers and partners. Over time, we expect this leader to become an integral part of the business organization, responsible for weaving technology into everything we do and helping us scale the business as it grows at a rapid pace.

The key focus areas for this role in the first year will include (i) developing the 3 year technology strategy and roadmap for the organization to drive measurable improvement in the business, (ii) developing a strong view of the customer journeys today and developing a digital innovation / product roadmap that will help us address our users’ needs in the best possible way, and (iii) act as an internal SME around how new and emerging EdTech trends will shape the future of our business. This role will also be instrumental in developing the future technology organization, including defining key roles and job requirements and managing the new technology organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Design technology strategy based on business objectives and then translate that strategy into an actionable plan (including identifying and building the larger technology and innovation organization).
  • Conduct analyses, interview users and partners, plan and facilitate workshops, and leverage this to develop a product roadmap that will look to place us at the forefront of EdTech innovation
  • Over time, lead the implementation of multiple strategic digital and technology initiatives, tracking implementation initiatives against agreed milestones and KPIs, ensuring the overall business case is delivered
  • Build comprehensive user journeys by developing a strong understanding of their needs and ensure that we build new technology and digital products that are customer centric
  • Build a strong understanding of the emerging EdTech landscape and define plans on how to incorporate those trends into the business where they can drive value.
  • Build, own, and manage the financial business case for the technology strategy and programs
  • Partner with the business and operations to identify new opportunities where technology and digital can drive value for the business (e.g., process mapping)
  • Adapt and ensure consistent alignment of the technology strategy to the evolving business model and competitive landscape.


Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 10+ year of experience in Technology roles spanning strategy, product development, program management, consulting and other related topics.
  • Ability to structure and scope complex problems and apply a range of analytical tools to develop solutions
  • Experience in developing business cases (quantitative and qualitative) to support strategic business initiatives, process improvement initiatives, or IT transformation recommendations
  • Experience in management consulting (MBB / Big Four / similar professional services firms) working across client-facing business lines is a plus
  • Experience leading teams, particularly technology teams, developers, product/project managers, etc.
  • Strong preference for experience in a EdTech company.

PREFERRED QUALITIES:

  • Experience in developing Technology strategy or product strategy / product roadmap from the ground up
  • Must be digitally savvy: familiar with basic digital concepts (customer journeys, Agile); regular user of consumer digital devices and apps
  • Experienced in evaluating and managing technology vendors; seasoned at measuring digital performance including user experience
  • Experience leading and useing conceptual and innovative thinking (i.e., identifying new/different technology-based solutions) to solve user issues
  • Ability to structure and execute primary and secondary research to analyze how well current or potential future products meet our customers’ needs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to build data-driven strategies around technology products and services for our business.
  • Experience leading or managing small teams effectively and planning/structuring analytical work
  • Strong focus on execution and ability to “get things done”; willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Passion for and broad knowledge of major technologies trends is required. Knowledge of EdTech trends a major plus.
  • Experience in EdTech business / start-up preferred but not required
