WHAT WE EMPOWER YOU WITH:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to the officers of Nav and other upper management on all legal matters relevant to the organization.

  • Review, research, interpret and prepare both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues.

  • Review contracts, leases, and other legal documents; research legal issues and recommend revisions.

  • Represent or oversee the representation of Nav and upper management in judicial and administrative proceedings, and in negotiations with other agencies.

  • Select and retain outside counsel, as required, to obtain legal opinions or to handle claims and litigation.

  • Manage and guide a team of legal and compliance professionals.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Knowledge of current and developing legal issues and trends in area of Fintech.

  • Knowledge and understanding of institutional policies and procedures and the regulatory environment within which they operate.

  • Ability to provide competent legal advice and counsel to senior staff on a wide range of legal and policy issues.

  • Knowledge of the range of applicable laws and regulations which impact on all facets of Nav policy and operations.

  • JD degree from a recognized U.S. law school, or foreign legal equivalent, and currently licensed to practice in at least one state bar.

  • Experience in a high growth environment with a record of accomplishment including driving for results.

  • Enthusiastic and informed change agent, with a high aptitude to adapt legal frameworks and risk profiles to new business models and new market segments.

  • Demonstrated deal-making skills that go beyond negotiating legal terms and resolving legal issues.

  • Detail-orientation and ability to manage multiple transactions and projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

  • Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

  • You have great organization skills and the ability to manage heavy workloads with multiple tasks.

  • You are comfortable delivering feedback and coaching up, down and to the side.

  • You have experience in Fintech and working in smaller, but rapidly scaling organizations.

  • You have a firm understanding of the role Legal Counsel plays in a successful organizations quantitative decision-making.

  • You have experience in a senior leadership role(s) building and leading a team in the Legal and Compliance function.
