Our licensed Before and After School Program is our largest program, operating from mid-August through late May in 28 locations throughout Anchorage and Eagle River. This position offers a split schedule with time off mid-day that allows for professional development and a chance to complete higher level education.

The Site Director position is responsible for the overall planning, management and supervision of assigned site with youth enrolled in grades K-6. Engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
Program Quality
- Manage a school age program or a center site effectively, utilizing best practices for risk management and quality program delivery
- Provide a safe, stable, fun, caring, and learning environment for participants
- Be aware of and (as possible) responsive to the needs of all youth to promote and practice the highest level of inclusion; trauma-informed care; and social and emotional learning skills, techniques, and methods
- Oversee the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that are consistent with participantsâ needs/abilities, including the enforcement of established behavioral expectations/disciplinary procedures
- Support special curriculum delivery by attending trained and ensuring high quality facilitation
- Act as a positive role model, displaying appropriate adult behaviors and practicing sound judgment
- Use brain-based guidance techniques and tools to ensure an emotionally safe environment for all youth, families, and staff
- Engage with families in meaningful ways through daily interactions and updates, sharing administrative notices as directed, and conducting monthly family events
- Be responsive to parent/guardian needs, providing timely and thorough customer service to address all questions, concerns, and complaints; direct them to office support as necessary
Coaching and Supervision
- Orient new staff and provide on-going coaching as needed
- Supervise staff: monitor staff schedules and ratio; assess and formally document staff job performance; deliver clear, consistent, and timely feedback; address/correct staff underperformance, engaging HR as necessary; etc.
- Participate in and/or lead teamwork, using open, direct, timely, and clear communication
- Use a strengths-based approach for relationship and goal management
- Spearhead site’s use of observation tool, completing all elements of the process
- Participate in (and run as assigned) multiple weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly meetings to produce a feedback loop where your supervisor and administrative support as well as staff are kept updated and informed on matters necessary to ensure their success
- Complete a minimum of 24-hours of required training annually (or equivalent), always with the mind toward bringing content back to site to practice newly learned strategies/behaviors; hold staff accountable for the same
- Collaborate with supervisor and other office administrative support to address all youth, family, and regulatory concerns as well as to work toward the highest quality program possible
Program Administration
- Adhere to and maintain all licensing standards, applicable regulations, and Camp Fire Alaska policies
- Use established communication/documentation steps to inform supervisor of all program matters
- Ensure timely completion of all administrative paperwork, documentation, and data collection
- Maintain program files/records in accordance with established procedures, ensuring confidentiality
- Monitor and support daily snack and breakfast according to federal guidelines, holding staff accountable for attending trainings and correctly completing service and documentation
- Procure program supplies, materials, and equipment as needed and within established budgetary parameters, enabling staff to be prepared for their shift duties and youth to have activity materials
- Direct daily schedule at site, including staff meeting/debrief, site set-up and clean-up, and session flow; ensure staff deliver program that follows approved Camp Fire best practices
- Monitor staff schedules and availability in addition to reviewing staff time keeping requirements daily, ensuring licensing requirement as well as timely/accurate submission for payroll processing
- Maintain positive relations with school personnel, administration, and parents
- Collaborate with office administrative support to communicate youth and family need to maximize the number of youth accessing programming
Universal

- Substitute for on-site leadership and staff when necessary
- Take on other related duties as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic understanding of (1) quality program delivery for school age programs and/or camp, specifically behavior management strategies and activity facilitation; and (2) ages and stages of youth development
- Established organizational, tracking, and monitoring skills
- Communicate efficiently, clearly, and directly based on objective observations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, competing deadlines and adapt to change
- Skill and desire to work with a diverse population: multi-cultural, age, gender, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum: one (1) year experience in program planning and working with youth (preferably school-age children) in a group and semi-structured setting.
- Minimum: six (6) months prior experience in staff supervision and management
- Ability to transport all program materials and supplies to site required; ability to visit all 30 sites on demand
- Age requirement of twenty-one (21) OR professional experience directly related to licensed or accredited child care/school age or camp programs to substitute
- Food Worker Card or the ability to obtain prior to reporting to work
REQUIREMENTS: that can be acquired after hire with agreed upon time schedule
- Willingness to acquire a minimum of twelve college credits (with at least 3 credit hours specific to early childhood education) in education, youth development or related filed. Bachelorâs Degree preferred
- Ability to obtain Current Adult/Child/Infant CPR, AED & First Aid certification from a nationally recognized provider, or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire. (Camp Fire provides classes and paid training time)
- Ability to obtain State of Alaska’s Office of Children’s Services online Mandated Reporter training certificate OR ability to obtain on-the-job within 5 days of hire;
- Approved Health & Safety certificate OR ability to obtain on-the-job within 5 days of hire;

- The work environment is often fast-paced requiring the mental clarity and stamina to interact with a variety of individuals, such as parents and staff, in various situations with logic and reason while being mindful of the safety well-being of all parties
- A majority of the work is performed at a school location, which may include prolonged periods of standing, walking, and kneeling, in addition to going outside in various weather conditions, facilitating gym activities, and very rarely using physical strength if necessary to secure the safety of a child. This position regularly requires collecting and moving program materials and supplies; some work is in front of a computer, in in-person meetings and trainings, and requires the use of a smart phone, that includes times outside of standard program delivery hours
