Position Summary

PMA is currently seeking Senior Project Managers to support major infrastructure and capital improvement projects in and around Los Angeles County. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Performing scope development and assessing properties for physical attributes and subsequently recommending facilities for possible future uses, priorities, and phasing.

  • Leading a construction team in accordance with program policies and procedures.

  • Training the project team on all client and program management office policies and procedures.

  • Master planning for large institutional facilities, commercial areas, or residential communities.

  • Following and successfully executing the program quality management system.

  • Reporting to and collaborating with the program management office on all project matters.

  • Reviewing and developing contract documents.

  • Planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and reporting performance of the project management team and construction projects.

  • Identifying risk and creating risk mitigation plans successfully.

  • Documenting and reporting all project data accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Creating and presenting project data clearly to multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Successfully managing and executing 5 to 10 projects simultaneously, ranging in construction value and complexity from $5 million to $50 million.


  • Successfully delivering construction projects on schedule and within budget.

  • Successfully closing out projects, including DSA and PMO closeout.

  • Tracking project status and providing management reports relative to the overall program and to construction project delivery schedules.

  • Tracking status and providing management reports relative to scheduling, cost control, staffing, and other related construction contract requirements.

  • Reviewing and inspecting construction site offices to assess performance of construction teams and adherence to legal requirements.

  • Reviewing recommended actions to resolve disputes relative to construction projects.

  • Directing and assisting in outreach efforts to provide information about college projects.

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing multiple construction projects required; experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant public codes preferred.

  • Valid construction manager certification credential (CCM) from the Construction Manager Certification Institute required or must be willing to achieve (company-sponsored) certification within 3 months of hire.

  • Current professional engineer or architect license from the State of California preferred.

  • BS or BA in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management, or a closely related field required.

  • Experience in conducting or managing consultants to perform market analyses and real estate development proformas preferred.

  • Experience in space programming, planning, and master planning for facilities that serve the public, such as libraries, hospitals and clinics, public safety facilities (detention, fire stations), and community service centers preferred.

  • Experience in due diligence and site analyses of both improved existing facilities and unimproved properties preferred.

  • Ability to evaluate redevelopment opportunities for vacant and underutilized properties preferred.

  • Ability to formulate strategies that increase the flexible use of assets preferred.

  • Experience working with contractors, regulatory authority, and vendors, such as FF&E personnel preferred.

  • Experience in alternative delivery methods preferred.

  • Experience with scheduling software, such as Primavera P6, preferred.

  • Experience utilizing building information modeling (BIM), in energy and environmental design (LEED-certified) projects, and/or with the Division of the State Architect preferred.
