TriMet’s Engineering and Construction Division is seeking to fill a senior project manager position to serve as the Project Controls Lead for the Southwest Corridor Project. This individual will serve on a capital project team as a key member assigned a lead role in the development and management of the project schedule, budget and various deliverables needed for successful advancement in the FTA New Starts process. This position will report directly to the Southwest Corridor Program Manager.
The successful candidate will perform senior project management duties as a fully competent and experienced project manager. Duties include working on a range of project development tasks, requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard project management techniques, procedures, and criteria, and assisting in the resolution of complex community, planning, and policy issues. May include responsibility for policy and criteria maintenance/development, design management, design and construction procurement, as well as schedule and budget development.

The Southwest corridor project is an 11 mile extension of the MAX light rail system that will include 13 stations and myriad investments in infrastructure to support regional multi-modal travel. The project is currently in early design, anticipating the completion of 30% design in mid-2020 and moving into the FTA New Starts Engineering phase in early 2021. Design will be complete in late 2022 with construction following from late 2022 until 2026 with revenue service beginning in September 2027.

1. Lead development and review of project schedules and assist with development and review of cost estimates.
2. Lead development and review of change management and risk management tracking and reporting.
3. Lead development and/or review of FTA New Starts Project Management Plan deliverables including basis of schedule and risk and contingency management plan.
3. Prepare work scopes for staff and consultant tasks. Assist with the procurement and administration of consultant and contractor services. Review and approve consultant and contractor invoices.
4. Lead tracking of changes during design or construction and negotiate appropriate changes with local jurisdictions or contractors. Lead or assist with the preparation of change documents and estimates.
5. Work and coordinate with other TriMet department staff including engineering, general Council, planning, real property, community affairs, operations, safety and security, and Quality Control personnel.
6. Consult and coordinate with external project stakeholders including jurisdictional liaisons, permit agencies, community groups, private property owners, and developers.
7. Review minutes, documentation, specifications and technical reports, and material generated by others.
8. Review material for, and make presentations to, project directors, technical peer groups and community meetings.
9. Supervise or coordinate the work of consultants and other support staff as required for specific assignments, and within the guidelines provided by the Director.
10. Represent TriMet at various interagency meetings as a fully competent technical representative.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a related field. Professional registration from the State of Oregon is desirable.
A minimum of six (6) years total credited experience.* Construction management/project controls/general engineering experience required. Experience in public works and bus and light rail transit development preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the “credited experience”.

Salary Range:
Minimum: $92,563.00
Midpoint: $115,704.00
Maximum $138,844.00
