General Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Cost Analytics & Patient Affordability in the Strategic Operations Management department, the Project Manager will work within a small team supporting large system-wide projects. The Project Manger provides support for numerous Patient Affordability initiatives that encompass both reducing the rate of expense growth and supporting change management within the Partner system. The goal of the initiatives is to identify opportunities for managing costs from a variety of perspectives including our clinical and operational structure, utilization and external economic factors.

The Strategic Operations Management Department also supports multiple projects and committees of physician and administrative leaders, charged with identifying cost and efficiency opportunities across Partners. In addition, this department supports other Finance projects such as unit cost analysis, benchmark reporting and EPSI cost refinements.

This position supports a variety of projects and committees across the Partners system. The projects vary but generally require close collaboration with the Partners institutions and strong knowledge and understanding of both financial analysis and project management.

The Project Manager will:

  • Act as project manager, analyst and facilitator for major projects that support Partners strategic priorities
  • Oversee all goals and objectives of the selected projects and committees in collaboration and under the direction of the committee’s Chair(s)
  • Support the senior leadership of select projects and committees in driving the development, implementation, and management of the overarching, multi-year project plan to achieve the specific goals of each committee
  • Drive and support projects and committees including overseeing logistics, performing analysis and preparing/ giving presentations.
  • Work closely with senior leaders from the institutions and corporate with a goal of advancing and achieving the stated milestones and objectives
  • Provide timely and accurate progress reports on all current initiatives and work directly and collaboratively with all representatives on the projects or committees.
  • Work collaboratively with any and all departments related to the workings of the projects and committee(s), identifying and communicating project plan, project objectives and milestones to all stakeholders and other relevant parties
  • Monitor compliance with and effectiveness of decisions and strategies implemented within the project or by the committee
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and ensures that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress then manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed


Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Project manages assigned projects related to patient affordability goals.
  • Assist in driving the objectives of the select projects and committee(s) forward by collaborating and serving the teams and/or chairs’ needs
  • Collects and disseminates accurate, relevant and timely information to the members of the select project team or committee
  • Stays abreast of current trends, best practice and other information relevant to health care and specifically related to the projects and committee(s) s/he supports. Researches and shares relevant information, using techniques of critical literature evaluation and information synthesis. Provides accurate and timely benchmark information where possible.
  • Assists with project and committee goals by providing clinical and financial business intelligence to stakeholders, sub-teams and initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development and communication of implementation plans for all teams and sub teams so as to support the success of the initiative.
  • If indicated, provides Partners Budget Directors and other Finance professionals with data and reports substantiating actual savings achievements in order to allow for necessary budget adjustments.
  • Collaborates with health care practitioners, educators and researchers, both within and outside PHS in multidisciplinary activities that support the projects assigned
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree preferred (M.B.A., Masters in Health Policy/Public Health or M.S)
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible work history in a health care related area and / or a large complex matrix organization working with senior level leaders
  • Prior financial analysis and project management experience in a complex multi-faceted organization
  • Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office and database tools, data management and data extraction
  • Process improvement skills and/or training a plus
  • Knowledge of supply chain and product formulary processes as well as comparative analyses a plus.

  • Excellent leadership skills with a strong ability to influence in a matrix organization
  • Effectiveness at establishing and managing multiple large-scale, multi-faceted projects simultaneously that require interdepartmental and multi-institutional cooperation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and within a team
