The Marketing & Business Development Director is responsible for defining, leading and executing strategic marketing and business development plans and related initiatives for the firm. The Marketing & Business Development Director manages projects and staff, identifies business development opportunities, plays a key role in helping others close deals and coordinates firm events. This position supervises the activities of the Marketing Specialist and reports to the Firm COO.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage and grow the Firm’s brand awareness within the marketplace, specifically in Minnesota and Greater Southwest Florida.
  • Develop and implement annual strategic marketing and business development plan for the Firm working with partners, Department Heads and the Executive Committee.
  • Direct, coordinate and monitor all approved marketing and business development projects to assure project effectiveness and timeliness.
  • Coach partners and staff to most effectively position the Firm and themselves to close deals.
  • Develop and manage sales pipeline process and work with Partners to maximize win rate.
  • Develop or supervise the creation of all marketing communications and presentation materials.
  • Develop or oversee creation of copy for promotional materials, employee publications, articles, events, speeches, proposals, website and other communication pieces.
  • Develop or oversee creation of internal firm communication and related strategy.
  • Develop or supervise webinars, seminars, mixers, open houses, and other special events for clients, prospects, referral sources and professional associations.
  • Serves as a liaison with outside consultants in the areas of marketing, advertising and public relations.
  • Manage the firm’s external website, including content, updates, SEO and design.
  • Manage the public relations efforts of the Firm by identifying Firm-related events capable of generating favorable publicity.
  • Oversee Firm’s social media efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of general economic and industry-specific conditions.
  • Produce a high return on the Firm’s monetary and time investments in marketing and business development, including sponsorships.


Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field required.
  • 5+ years of Marketing and Business Development experience required.
  • Professional Services Marketing and Business Development highly desirable and preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of Firm management, partners, staff, clients, and outside business contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to create strategic plans, propose new ideas and bring marketing and business development opportunities to the attention of the Firm.
  • Strong project management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Decision-making abilities, accuracy, thoroughness, promptness and dependability.
  • A self-starter with demonstrated success working toward multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Skilled in using multiple techniques to advance marketing and business development objectives: client engagement, written communication, thought leadership, website, digital and social media, proposal development, public relations, market research, client relationship management, and measurement and analytics, among others.
