Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Research Institute and Medical Director, this position is a member of the CHOC Research Institute Management Team and is responsible for the overall operational management of the investigator initiated research at CHOC. Incumbent recruits and supervises program, provides training and support for faculty recruitments, develops the scope of work and budgets for collaborating partners, monitors performance, including financial performance of collaborators and develops grant proposals and manuscripts in support of Center Activities.

Experience Minimum Required: Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a research-centric program with knowledge of systems, organizations, and research programs the deal with children and families. Minimum of one year of experience performing fiscal and budgetary analyses. Experience in coordinating and organizing multiple complex projects and tasks with interruptions and/or changing priorities. Experience in the creation and execution of human subjects research, preparation and implementation of research contracts or grants and writing of research results for peer-reviewed scientific publications. Experience working with community groups as well as public, private and governmental agencies Experience Preferred Desired: Five years of management experience in an academic healthcare setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years previous project management experience. Education Description: Education Minimum Required: Bachelor?s Degree in related field or relevant experience in lieu of education. Degree in education, psychology, social work, business, public health, healthcare administration or related field. Education Desired Preferred: Master?s Degree in related field. Training Description: Training Minimum Required: Training Desired Preferred: MHA, MBA, or Master?s Degree in healthcare. Special Skills Description: Special Skills Minimum Required: Strong self-motivation and initiative with ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Ability to comprehend, interpret and implement CHOC and UC Irvine policies and procedures regarding personnel, payroll, research, fiscal matters, space and equipment, etc. Knowledge and ability to effectively supervise staff, handling sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality. Analytical skills to address complex issues, problem-solve independently and to provide long-range planning on a variety of matters. Writing and communication skills to effectively product administrative and scientific reports, proposals, memos and letters. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of individuals, to effectively provide information, and to identify problems and develop feasible solutions. Intermediate or advanced computer, spreadsheet and database skills. Special Skills Desired Preferred: Demonstrated strength in building and articulating a vision and setting goals. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects.
