Director of Freight Forwarding Operations

As the Director of Freight Forwarding Operations of TQL Global, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TQL, you will be instrumental in developing and growing the international freight forwarding business of TQL Global, from a startup to $100M+. We are looking for someone that has the proven experience, success and knowledge in the industry to help establish best practices and develop a team.

POSITION IS BASED IN CINCINNATI, OH. RELOCATION ASSISTANCE INCLUDED.

• Plan, implement, and evaluate all operational functions for TQL Global and its air/ocean/freight forwarding operations
• Serve as the “Qualifying Individual” as required for TQL Global’s ocean freight forwarding license with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)
• Develop operational objectives and ensure goals are aligned with overall business objectives
• Work with other teams and departments within TQL and TQL Global to coordinate freight forwarding services
• Build effective relationships across TQL and TQL Global to help drive projects to completion and improve processes
• Assist in the development of SOP’s and ensure SOP’s are being followed for all international shipments, rates, import/export documentation, and customer service
• Develop and monitor policies and practices to ensure compliance
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements
• Provide supervision, guidance, and support to all team members regarding operations, standardized procedures, and systems
• Ensure TQL Global is preparing and issuing rates efficiently and effectively
• Identify internal/external customer needs and develop solutions to solve challenges
• Develop and build relationships with international transportation carriers
• Negotiate and establish pricing for international shipping needs

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5+ years’ experience in international freight forwarding operations including air and ocean for both import and export activities
• 3+ years’ experience working for an FMC-licensed ocean freight forwarder in a similar role
• Meet the requirements for being a “Qualifying Individual” as required for TQL Global’s ocean freight forwarding license with the FMC
• Extensive knowledge of applicable domestic and international regulations, policies, and procedures
• Experience as a licensed customs broker preferred
• Results oriented with the drive to grow an international freight forwarding business

• Microsoft Office – Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
• Strong analytical skills with a systematic problem-solving approach
