- Facilities Operations is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of 56 DCAS-managed court and non-court buildings totaling 15 million square feet of space within the five boroughs. The unit is responsible for the Trade Shops, Building Services, Energy Management, and the maintenance of building systems through repairs and renovations.
- Oversee all in-house construction and repair services needed with all 56 DCAS-managed facilities;
- Supervise Trades personnel responsible for the maintenance and repairs;
- Review the Archibus Work Order System daily to review and approve all work requests coming in for the Shops;
- Works closely with OCA (Courts) with all repairs being done in a timely matter and with emergencies;
- Keep track of spending by all Supervisors of each Trade to ensure they stay within their budgets;
- Track all overtime labor costs and manage OT budget;
- Problem solving of all issues that arise during the day;
- Dispatch the proper staff to tend to emergencies day or night â 24/7 availability;
- Work closely with Building Services, Maintenance, Tenant Services, Engineering, Steamfitters;
- Generate a Bi-weekly Report for the Deputy Commissioner and a Weekly Report for the Deputy Mayor at City Hall;
- Key in all the Overtime for the entire staff of 80 + weekly;
- Make sure the vehicle Fleet is being repaired in a timely matter and all transportation related concerns are addressed, including the Local Motion vehicle management system and EZ Pass usage;
- Work with HR, Discipline, Timekeeping, and Workerâs Comp for all Staff;
- Conducts Site Visit to all 56 City Buildings as needed;
- Work with Agencies that are in the DCAS managed Buildings;
- Make sure Staff and Tenants are safe and satisfied with our work everyday;
- Keeps the Staff moving forward with all new Technology (Fast Fleet, Archibus 21.2 Version, Excel Inventory sheets, iPads, iPhones);
- Works very close with City Hall as needed;
- Manage the requests from the main office and provide support to the Director of Shops;
- Take the lead on energy retrofit work and upgrades.
DCAS Shops help with all in-house construction and repair services needed within DCAS-managed facilities and all Mayoral Ceremonies and Special Events with setup and takedown of all staging, sets, and platforms. The Shops perform small-scale renovations such as partitions/drywall work, rough and finished carpentry, interior/exterior painting, electrical repairs, plumbing repairs, structural steel and concrete and masonry work and manufacture in-house replacement of parts for obsolete equipment. Additionally, the Shops operate an internal Steamfitter shop as well as locksmith services.

Minimum Qual Requirements
1. Eight years of full-time experience in construction, repair, alteration and/or rehabilitation of multiple dwellings, commercial, industrial or public buildings in the capacity of general contractor, superintendent of construction, procurement specialist, evaluator responsible for cost estimation, or as a field supervisor or as an inspector, at least 18 months of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity involving responsibility for a large number of buildings; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above. Education in an accredited college leading toward a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, engineering technology or a closely related field will be accepted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years. However, all candidates must possess at least 18 months of the specialized supervisory or administrative experience described in “1” above.
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above. Education in an accredited college leading toward a baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, engineering technology or a closely related field will be accepted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years. However, all candidates must possess at least 18 months of the specialized supervisory or administrative experience described in “1” above.
