Full Job Description
The Assistant Vice President, Surgical and Interventional Services, directs and participates in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan, service line performance improvement programs, and annual operating budget, plans, goals and objectives. Interprets, communicates and assures the implementation of the organization’s mission, vision and values and strategic objectives. Participates with the Corporate and Local leadership teams and the Medical Staff in the decision- making structures and processes. Responsible for leadership of hospital/physician joint ventures (3) including coordination of governance and management committees.

Responsible for the strategic vision and direction of Perioperative Services for Penn Medicine Princeton Service areas. Responsible for the operations of the following areas throughout the Princeton Health: OR Administration, Inpatient Operating Room, Centers for Ambulatory Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cauterization Lab, Surgical Preparation, Admissions, PACU, Central Processing Department, Anesthesiology, and Inpatient and Outpatient Endoscopy Services.

Functions as the leader of all administrative operations and fiscal responsibilities, provides solutions, leadership and administration of staff, etc., and assures the Departments are kept compliant for State and Regulatory agencies. Responsible for achieving high patient, physician and employee satisfaction. Enhances quality through strong performance improvement programs. Promotes positive staff attitudes, professional autonomy, effective communication, collaboration, creativity, and optimal productivity.

Essential job duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures a proper framework for the safety and quality patient care, treatment and services practiced in defined areas of responsibility at PMPH
  • Ensures that all services in defined areas of responsibility at PMC are in accordance with applicable licensure requirements, laws, rules and regulations. Acts on reports and/or recommendations from authorized agencies are appropriate.
  • Communicates objectives and coordinates efforts to integrate care, treatment and services throughout the organization.
  • Plans and implements a safety management program for defined areas at PMC. Establishes plans, and priorities and directs the performance improvement process for staff in defined areas at PMC.
  • Provides the framework for planning, directing, coordinating, providing and improving care, treatment and services to respond to community and patient needs and improve health care outcomes.
  • Develops and monitors an annual operating budgets and, as appropriate, a long-term capital expenditure plan.
  • Participates in both short-term and long-term planning as it relates to a defined area of responsibility at PMC. Recommends space and resource allocation needed by the department.
  • Coordinates governance functions associated with ambulatory surgical center joint ventures and is accountable for performance of the joint venture relationships.
Minimum Requirements:
• Masters Degree – required

  • 8+ years of related work experience – required

Licensure, Certification or Registration requirements:

  • Current RN License in the state of New Jersey – required
  • CNOR experience – preferred

Specialized Skills & Knowledge requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive leadership experience in a clinical setting with at least seven years’ procedure-based experience
  • Strong strategic planning, financial management, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of information technology and management information systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization
