Position Title: Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services for Football Full Time Employee (FTE)

RWJ Barnabas Health is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Training Services at Rutgers University. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services and will supervise and coordinate the University’s athletic training services for football in consultation and cooperation with the Chief Medical Officer, Team Physicians, and other qualified medical personnel.
Qualifications: Master s Degree in an appropriate area of specialization, BOC certification, Athletic Training licensure issued by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Athletic Training Advisory Board, CPR/AED certification and 5 years of directly related professional experience as an Athletic Trainer.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assist with the supervision and coordination of the medical care for student-athletes within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, including but not limited to:
- Ensure appropriate provision of athletic training services for the football program, including injury risk reduction, evaluation and management of athletic injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, and education and counseling of student-athletes;
- Identify and assist in the application of professional medical service needs for the football program including scheduling and coordinating of athletic training staff and students for coverage of team practices and competition, home and away, throughout the year;
- Assist with the coordination and scheduling of student-athletes for physical examinations and medical referrals, and in consultation with the team physician(s) provide daily treatment plan for each student-athlete that includes his/her participation status in practice and/or competition;
- Oversee the university s football athletic training staff, including the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of staff and student assistants assigned to football, with regards to any and all duties;
- In conjunction with the Director of Athletic Training Services, develop and maintain sports medicine policies and procedures, and ensure staff familiarity and compliance with the policies and procedures;
- Work cooperatively with other athletic department experts, such as registered dieticians, strength and conditioning staff, and sports psychology staff with the shared goal of enhancing the student-athletes health and well-being;
- Ensure clear and concise communication with all involved parties, including student-athletes, coaches, allied healthcare professionals, and other athletic department staff, within the bounds of confidentiality, where applicable;
- Ensure staff compliance with timely, accurate and organized record keeping system;
- Work in conjunction with the equipment room staff regarding the safety athletic equipment and to facilitate proper methods of fitting athletic equipment;
- Assist the Director of Athletic Training Services to ensure that all football athletic trainers obtain necessary and appropriate continuing education and professional development;
- Represent RWJBarnabas Health, Rutgers University and the Sports Medicine Department at university, conference, and/or national meetings as required or requested;
- Maintain certification and license requirements of the Board of Certification (BOC) and the State of New Jersey.
- Engage in other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training Services.

Regular day, evening and weekend hours are required; Travel is required.
