TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR
The Transportation Director plans, directs and coordinates agency transportation operations which are subject to agency, state, regional and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL JOB JUNCTIONS:
- Plans, conducts and coordinates agency transportation operations activities. Provides supervision for agency drivers; works with fleet manager to develop best operations organization and structure to meet program needs; assists with Dispatch in scheduling and troubleshooting to best meet clientsâ needs.
- Monitors all transportation contracts and assures compliance with quality standards, applicable laws, regulations and procedures as they relate to operations activities; knowledgeable of contract requirements and agency policies and procedures for smooth operations of transit fleet; reviews reports, forms and other documentation for compliance; monitors staff performance.
- Develops and conducts a continuous safety and accident prevention program; works within local, state, regional and federal guidelines; plans and schedules training on safety and accident prevention; monitors and compiles accident data and incidents which occur on agency vehicles.
- Develops, conducts and coordinates training for drivers and assures all operations personnel have met training requirements; monitors staff compliance with training requirements; promotes a positive working relationship with drivers and support staff; develops annual training plan based on staff needs and deficiencies.
- Administers accident/incidents investigations; completes required reports and files with appropriate agencies; works cooperatively with insurance and other agency personnel to conclusion.
- Works cooperatively with executive staff to conduct short and long range planning for the Transportation Department and vision for the agency; works with finance to maintain service budget; develops new and innovative approaches to operations activities
- Works cooperatively with contracting agencies, community agencies and local government; offers assistance to the public regarding operational needs and complaints.
JOB SKILLS REQUIRED
Detail-oriented, reliable, punctual;
Database experience and competency with Excel and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Four year degree in Social Service area or related field and 4 years of supervisory experience in related field or 10 years work experience in transit industry.
Possession of a SC driverâs license with 5 years driving experience; must have a good knowledge of principles of safe driving and general transportation safety.
