Our Software Development Director will be in charge of planning and overseeing the software development process for our customized software. You will be responsible for guiding software programmers and other professionals to meet company objectives, as well as help create software project requirements based on collaboration with colleagues and customer needs. One of your main responsibilities includes facilitating communication between software developers and support professionals. You will also interact with your in house clinical peer/clients to gather information about possible software product improvements. Our software development director creates detailed reports based on the testing and development phases as well. Other tasks performed by the software development director include leading review processes and suggesting changes when required. They provide guidance to junior staff, use their expertise to maintain consistent design guidelines, and use their excellent presentation skills to present information to upper management. Our software development directors also help train developers and evaluate software offerings to ensure that all company standards are met. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is generally required for this position. In addition, previous experience in managing software projects is necessary. Industry and leadership certifications may be preferred. You must have strong analytical and organizational skills. You must also possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with their own team members, as well as other technical and development staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of ~10-15 FTE and consultant, both system analysts and software engineers, using Agile methods and Lean principles
  • Ensure business needs, non-functional requirements, code reviews, performance & stress testing, QA & program management standards are met
  • Thought leader for complex integration architecture and understanding sequence of events across systems
  • Oversee software development with a total IT project portfolio of 10-15 concurrent active projects

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 10+ years experience leading large scale IT teams
  • 7+ years leading multiple Agile teams and programs with expert understanding of Agile and Lean principles
  • 3+ years of experience in driving full DevOps software development and engineering practices
  • Experience in implementing both Cloud/SaaS Solutions & On-Premise Solutions
  • Diverse experience with a broad range of applications development platforms, technologies, middleware, frameworks and programming languages
  • Broad experience in software development lifecycle management
  • Ability to multi-task, and quickly remediate escalations across both IT & Business partners
  • Ability to build strong relationships w/IT & Business to negotiate & prioritize work
  • Strong communication skills (both written & oral)
  • Demonstrated problem solving & analytical thinking skills
  • Strong understanding of various customer outreach & response handling channels, such as physical mailing/email/web/mobile, etc.

Preferred:

  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification
  • Health Care/ Insurance industry background
  • 2+ years of Microsoft Azure Cloud development and deployment experiences
