    Transportation/Trucking company is now hiring for a Transportation Senior Manager in Santa Monica, California.

    Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:

    • Assume responsibility for Terminal functions.
    • Act as liaison between various internal department personnel; ensure the various departments are communicating needs and opportunities for improvement.

    As designated by leadership, perform set functions such as:

    • Staff scheduling.
    • Monitoring trailer pools.
    • Build relationships, solve issues, and assist customer(s) and drivers with their individual needs.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of designated department personnel and any other assigned staff.
    • Monitor outbound freight within designated planning center and act as service orientated leader to identify service issues; manage expectations and collaborate with internal department personnel to provide resolution and execute better service opportunities.
    • Review terminal reports such as productivity, unmanned trucks, accidents, drive cam, conduct risk analysis, and all other reports assigned.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
    • Assist with recruiting efforts.
    • Assurance of DOT compliance and administration of all reporting procedures and enforce all company policies and procedures.
    • May perform additional duties as assigned.

    Make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions.

    Develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures.

    Assist HR with recruiting when necessary.

    Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.

    Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing.

    Experience in management, operations, and leadership.

    Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management.

    Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.

    Work with senior stakeholders.

    Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.

    Work with company principals to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.

    Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.

    Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations.

    Support worker communication with the management team.

    Requirements:

    Operational Skills: This position requires an individual experienced in the movement of freight and driver relations. A fundamentally solid performer who is consistently able to facilitate multiple projects and remain productive under pressure.

    Management: This position requires experience in managing and coaching others. Troubleshooting any issues with a driver pick up or delivery to ensure proper freight delivery.

    Communication: This position requires the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers; and the ability to confront and resolve performance or service issues with drivers and customers effectively.

    Physical Requirements: The individual in this position must have the ability to oversee daily operations and the activities of drivers. This individual will communicate the daily and long term needs of a fleet of drivers requiring conversations, appointments and follow- up. The position may also require extended workdays, involving a variety of work-related activities. May also require extended periods of talking, sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, driving or other forms of travel. Periods of intense concentration are required. Individual must have the requisite stamina for these activities.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    2 years related experience

    Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

    Familiarization with DOT and OSHA rules and regulations is a plus

    Fleet management experience

    Strong analysis and decision making skills

    Superior customer service skills

    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    Analysis: Coordinating with operational staff in order to receive maximum productivity from drivers while operating within DOT, OSHA and other company safety departments.
