Job Description

Under the guidance of the Branch Executive, the Program Director oversees and manages day to day administration and operations, the policies and procedures, budget of all health/fitness programs, aquatics and youth sports.

Qualifications

  • 2 year degree and/or education and experience , preferably experience working with youth and families
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Computer literate and proficient in typing
  • Passionate belief in the YMCA mission and strong human relation skills
  • Ability to relate to key volunteers, staff, and program participants of varying ages

Essential Functions

1. Maintains, monitors and modifies as necessary existing programming.

2. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all wellness staff to include Group Exercise Coordinator, Wellness Staff, Personal Trainers, Sports Volunteers and Staff and Aquatics Staff. Recommends wage adjustments.

3. Review and revise departmental policies and procedures as needed.

4. Develops and manages the Wellness, Aquatics and Youth Sports Department Budget.

5. Creates a welcome, friendly atmosphere for all members and guests.

6. Develops and implements wellness programs to enhance the member experience and retain members.

7. Coordinates and collaborates with other program directors to develop and implement interdepartmental programs for members and the community.

8. Teaches classes as needed.

9. Develops and oversees risk management for wellness facility to ensure facility is clean, safe, and equipment in good repair.

10. Recruits and collaborates with YMCA staff (team members) to enhance and strengthen all programs.

11. Attends all required branch and association meetings.

12. Participates/coordinates special events and fundraising efforts.

13. Participates in community programs such as civic events, health projects and expositions to promote YMCA activities.

14. Promotes and markets Wellness Programs to the surrounding community.

15. Keeps CPR, AED, First Aid and other related Wellness certifications current.

16. Other duties as assigned.

Salary

$35,568.00
