POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under administrative direction, the 1070 IS Project Director for the Architecture and Enterprise Applications group will have the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of IT-related projects. The incumbent will serve as technical project manager to develop and maintain a technology project plan and assume responsibility for the completion of IT projects.

Essential Duties

  • Provides overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, documentation and closure of IT projects. IT projects would include, but not be limited to the following systems:

o Microsoft Office 365 services such as Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.

o Systems management and integration using products like Quest Desktop Authority, Quest Active Administrator and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.

o Mobile device, remote access and virtualization solutions such as Citrix Virtual Desktops & Applications, Maas360 and/or Microsoft Intune.

o Cybersecurity controls such as Forcepoint/Websense, McAfee Endpoint Protection, Azure Identity Protection/Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

o Enterprise file-sharing solutions such as Citrix ShareFile, OneDrive and GoAnywhere MFT.

o Enterprise media solutions, including Microsoft Stream and Canto Digital Asset Management systems

  • Interfaces with vendors and service providers as SFPUC Project Manager on IT projects.

  • Serves as technical liaison between internal technical operations and business applications teams.

  • Manage communications and messaging to upper management and enterprises.

  • Develop IT policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with other City and County of San Francisco agencies to maintain systems integration such as Active Directory synchronization and Office 365 cross-tenant Federation.
  • Performing Active Directory administration support duties across various SFPUC sites.

  • Provides escalation an technical support to less-senior IT staff across 24 remote SFPUC sites
  • Performs related task and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field].

Experience:

Seven (7) years of experience in system administration, information systems development, maintenance and support, or information technology project management, including two (2) years of supervisory experience

Substitution:

Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.

Special condition:

  • Five (5) years IT Project Management Experience
  • Five (5) years of Technical Liaison to Enterprise IT Projects Experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Leadership and decision making ability
  • Experience with SharePoint and cloud-based applications
  • Customer service and business acumen ability

The special conditions experience above must been acquired within the past five (5) years and are associated with the position to be filled. They may differ from the standard minimum qualifications associated with this classification.

City employees will receive credit for the duties of the class to which appointed. Credit for experience obtained outside of the employee’s class will be allowed only if recorded in accordance with the provisions of Civil Service Commission Rules. CCSF employees will not receive credit for experience obtained outside of their classification unless recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Service Rule 110.9.1/111A.11.2.

Experience claimed in self-employment will only be accepted if supported by documents verifying income, earnings, business license and experience comparable to minimum qualifications above. Copies of income tax papers or other documents listing occupation and total earnings must be submitted.

Verification of required valid licensure/certification typically must be a photocopy of the license/certificate including the name of the issuing agency as well as the name of the license/certificate holder, license/certificate number, and expiration date.
