Job Description

Under the direction of the VP of Youth Development, the Executive Director Childcare is responsible for overseeing the development of all licensed childcare operational areas including school age sites, related summer programs, associated grants, Early Learning Centers (ELC) and the Kids Unlimited Program. This position assists with the recruitment, training and support of all assigned staff in delivering the highest level of programming to program participants through experienced, quality, efficient and courteous delivery of services. The Executive Director Childcare will serve as a member of the Leadership Team for the YMCA of Frederick County association and will be integral in strategic planning and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Ideally in Early Learning & Child Development or Elementary Education.
  • Minimum of five years of staff management experience.
  • Experience and/or understanding of how to align programs to academic, social-emotional, character and physical youth development. (ESL)
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our community.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Essential Functions

Staff Development:

  • Work in conjunction with HR to recruit, hire, train and develop personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Supervise, and schedule staff team as needed.
  • Develop performance standards for all direct reports, conduct annual performance reviews.

Core Dept Areas of Responsibility:

  • Assigned Department areas include school age sites, related summer programs, Early Learning Centers (ELC) and the Kids Unlimited Program.
  • Directly manage all childcare operations to support program growth, retention and excellent customer service.
  • Expected to meet or exceed all licensing standards for childcare.
  • Must maintain a healthy relationship with key departments that help to support childcare operations.

Financial Development:

  • Assist with financial development activities of the branch specifically the annual campaign.
  • Oversee and support various YMCA special events.
  • Organize and coordinate the annual Healthy Kids Day event on behalf of the association.

Budget Management:

  • Develop, manage and review departmental budgets related to the operation of the Licensed Child Care Department.

Facility Management:

  • Ensure management and quality of the facilities and equipment in all childcare areas.

Strategic Planning:

  • Assists with strategic planning efforts and development of the annual operating plan for all childcare operations.
  • Serve as directed on association task forces or committees.

Administration:

  • Perform quality work within given deadlines and expectations with or without direct supervision.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other appropriate individuals.
  • Gather data and reports as required for assigned program areas.
  • Ensure branding, communication and marketing meet Association standards for all responsible programs.
  • Ensure that all program course information is prepared for inclusion into the data base/operating system.
  • Responsible for all administrative paperwork and records for program reporting.
  • Making sure program follows guidelines set forth by MSDE for accredited programs.

Risk Management:

  • Assure compliance with state and local regulations. Ensure that program standards, emergency action plans and other safety protocols are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Making sure YMCA policies and procedures are adhered to both by self and within areas of responsibility.

Program Team:

  • Interact professionally with other employees, members, program participants, volunteers, and other individuals within the community, always being mindful of the YMCA’s mission, vision and values.
  • Serve effectively as a team leader/contributor on all assignments.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty (CDLOD) as scheduled.

Required Certifications

  • Blood borne Pathogen Training
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen Certification
  • Code of Conduct Training
  • Completion of YUSA Multi- Team branch leader Certification within two years of start date of employment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the YMCA insurance carrier with an acceptable driving record
  • Acceptable screening results with comprehensive background check

Salary

$70,000.00 – $100,000.00
