Director of Software Engineering
Building software products that close the knowledge gap in cybersecurity is more than a job – it’s a mission. As our Director of Software Engineering, you’re passionate about working with a forward-thinking team, deploying quality code, and building an inclusive environment of other mission-oriented engineers. As a member of the company’s executive leadership team, your input and opinions are not only welcomed, but will be key in building our continued growth strategy.
You have an entrepreneurial mindset, focus on problem solving, managing deliverables and deployments. You have experience with fullstack development teams and have worked on building an application from scratch. You create a team atmosphere where ideas and contributions are welcomed and open, direct communication is a two-way street.
Leadership. You focus on improving developer velocity, scalability and testability of our products. Acting as a true leader, you mentor, teach, coach, and encourage self-study and problem-solving.
Technical expertise. As a seasoned developer, your knowledge is sought for product design, implementation, and delivery as well as devops, infrastructure, and cloud storage solutions.
Management. You work toward ensuring the team has the tools they need to build scalable, innovative products and create a delightful customer experience. You support your team in their day-to-day activities and set production standards that correlate with the product roadmap and strategy.
Positive attitude. You’re tenacious with a smile, able to stay positive and persistent. You’re open to new ideas and if there’s a better way to do things, you’re willing to try. The team works hard but you know how to have fun doing it.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop team structure and execution strategies, managing the overall software development lifecycle
- Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Be responsible for high-level plans for allocating departmental resources, increasing staffing levels, creating mentorship programs, hiring and retaining our first-rate engineering team.
- Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach.
- Continue to innovate and overcome technology limitations to deliver a delightful customer experience.
- Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to ownership and your peers in the executive leadership team
- We’re small and nimble, you’re someone who figures out how to do the things that need to get done and gets them done. You participate, delegate, and accomplish.
Your qualifications
- 3+ years technical and people management experience
- Experience with developing automated internal frameworks, increasing developer and release velocity, improving code health and building developer tools
- Solid software development background including design patterns, data structures and test driven development
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Self-directed and motivated to meet deadlines
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Agile environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
