Description
The purpose of this position is to direct and manage the Reference Laboratory Department which includes the following sections: Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, Special Chemistry, Transfusion and Urinalysis laboratory testing. The department provides testing for hospital inpatient and out patient populations, outreach clients which include a variety of medical providers and nursing homes and other patient care facilities, has 47 direct reports, a laboratory test revenue of $19 million per year and a budget of $ 6.7 million.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelorâs Degree in Medical technology or related science (with advanced training in clinical laboratory) from an accredited university or college as acknowledged by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required; Masters degree preferred. Holds national certification as a qualified Medical Technologist MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS(ASCP). [Note: A technologist with active certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA) obtained prior to 2004 is equivalent to a MLS(ASCP).] Must have at least three years experience in laboratory management or supervision; experience with hospital laboratory operations, reference laboratory and in a CAP accredited laboratory preferred.
