Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible to ensure the ISO 9001, ASME and National Board certifications are maintained and improved upon for VPI. Responsible for the determination of audit requirements and the review of the results. This Manager is responsible for process review, development and optimization within Vogt Power International (VPI). A major responsibility is to drive the Continuous Improvement of tools to support VPI departments in running efficiently and with high quality standards so that the desired outcome can be achieved with optimal use of resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Quality Control Programs that assure Engineering requirements, Customer requirements and all code requirements are met for projects.
  • Direct the preparation and implementation of Quality Assurance procedures and processes.
  • Review the effectiveness of the Quality Plan and make adjustments as required.
  • Direct/Work with other QA/QC personnel to conduct internal audits and follow up with proper documentation and corrective actions.
  • Interface with Outside Auditors and assure that they have access to required documents.
  • Interface with the necessary departments for problem resolution. Manage the NCR and CAR process including running the review meetings and processing required reports.
  • Assure that adequate training of Quality Assurance Processes and Procedures is conducted throughout the organization.
  • Conduct and/or arrange audits of individual internal departments for compliance of quality responsibilities.
  • Maintain and update the Quality Control Manual as required by code changes, ASME Certification of Authorization, Stamps, National Board Authorization, State and Local Licenses, and ISO Certification. Write new procedures when needed.
  • Act as primary liaison between internal customers and VPI management to develop process changes and improvements.
  • Responsible for providing leadership in identifying process improvement opportunities and being actively engaged in implementing improvements.
  • Develop and manage the Process Optimization working closely with all managers.
  • Constantly seek, share and implement best practices.
  • Apply process improvement tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects.
  • Prepare quarterly KPI’s by department to provide quantifiable evidence of process effectiveness
  • Review the current company processes for inefficiencies, bottlenecks and potential improvements and work with the respective groups and end users to develop solutions to reduce errors and rework.
  • Analyze procedures for updates to match current standards and processes and adjust, train and implement as necessary.
  • Review work processes to determine if a formal standard procedure is required and develop such procedure.

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering.Five or more years’ experience managing process improvement or project management within a technical setting.
  • Experience working with ASME Code requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be organized; thorough; able to process, absorb and transfer information expediently; and be able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to build relationships across a wide range of cultures and departments
  • Requires strong skill in MSO suite of applications (Excel, Word, Power point, Visio, etc) and other relevant software.
