The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Financial Reporting and Project Manager for the Southern Territory Headquarters, located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Summary

Plans, develops, and manages financial reporting, project development, budgeting package and serves as lead trainer for the Southern Territorial Headquarters under the direction of the Director of Accounting and the Territorial Financial Secretary. Ensures compliance with established standards and guidelines; develops and recommends procedures for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of financial record keeping, controls, and reporting; serves as project manager specifically in design and implementation processes to enhance efficiencies and special projects as needed with the accounting section. Consistently creates, prepares and analyzes THQ and territorial financial reports used by cabinet and board members for use in management decision making and board preparation; analyzes financial reports consistently to ensure integrity of financial data and presents financial status within reporting packages. Prepares operational and procedural manuals to assist the management team in operating more efficiently and effectively. Researches, recommends, and implements processes for automating financial record keeping and reporting to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of department operations while protecting the integrity and accuracy of financial data; assists in developing, designing and preparing the presentation of territorial financial reports and budgets; provides technical support and training to accounting personnel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of basic and GAAP accounting and reporting. Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, finance, and bookkeeping. Knowledge and experience in the preparation of complicated consolidated financial statements. Knowledge of accepted practices and techniques for preparing complex spreadsheets, financial statements and reports. Knowledge of data management and monitoring of financial software. Ability to perform all tasks in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Ability to meet and achieve set goals and prioritize and plan work activities in a productive manner. Ability to prepare accurate and complete spreadsheets, balance sheets, trial balances, income statements, financial statements, and special financial reports. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all information associated with the job. Ability to operate and utilize computer systems to generate and record financial data. Ability to research, analyze, and provide recommendations for a substantial volume of data. Ability to manage multiple projects and process. Ability to generate customized reports utilizing the query and personal computer support functions of MS Great Plains to extract accounting information. Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical calculations. Ability to perform tasks accurately and thoroughly. Ability to apply feedback to improve performance and monitor own work to ensure quality. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, demands, and team interactions. Ability to manage competing demands. Ability to treat people with respect. Ability to keep commitments. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Education and Experience

Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field, and five years progressively responsible accounting experience preferably with one-year financial reporting, project management and budget preparation experience. Licenses & Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Constant amount of physical effort required associated with hand movement, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, vision, hearing, talking and sitting at least 90% of the work time; rare to occasional amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching at least 30% of the work time. Ability to drive an automobile. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, or hazardous conditions.
