Director, Live Events

Description

The Director, Live Events is responsible for driving the strategy and handling and overseeing a diverse portfolio of Oakland and Bay Area events, ranging from festivals and sports conferences to campaign events, and major internal events. This meaningful role will lead a team of exceptional event staff and be focused on delivering unique and memorable experiences, where Roots shines as an exhibitor at industry-leading events that attendees remember. Attendees will walk away with a deep understanding of all Roots offers, understand our products at greater depths and make lasting community connections. Roots is looking for this leader to bring fresh and creative ideas, lead a team in delivering global unique events and bring a data-driven attitude around continuous improvement. This position will report directly to our Chief Marketing Officer.

Responsibilities

• Convey a deep understanding of events combined with charismatic storytelling, and will focus on raising the bar and delivering extraordinary experiences for attendees.

• Take full ownership of the events program end-to-end, including overall project management and execution, goal setting, experiential, stage content, identifying partners/vendors, communications, analysis, and reporting.

• Partnering across the company from Marketing, to the Executives, to the Tickets team and beyond to collaborate with partners to innovate, design and deliver impactful events that thrill and delight the community.

• Oversee the development of Roots event strategy and portfolio, ensuring it aligns to business objectives and improves the efficiency and impact of events.

• Passionate for the experience, specifically the content that is delivered at our internal and external events.

• Have a keen eye for finance and budgets to ensure we deliver on time and on budget amazing events.

• Lead the events team, ensuring team leaders are empowered and resourced to lead and execute events.

• Work to build an outstanding group and provide mentorship for the teams professional development and performance management.

• Bring in the right events vendors to support everything from registration, through logistics and production to ensure all internal and external partners know what the events plan is all the way through the post mortem for the event.
