The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is actively seeking a professional and dedicated manager for their Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 position at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy. The Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1 supervises maintenance staff in the performance of all building and grounds, maintenance and repair with the ultimate goal being an institution with well kept grounds and buildings, free of fire and safety hazards.

  • Full-time employment
  • 40 hour work week; Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • This management position is not subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Supervises trades foreman, tradesman, and maintenance foremen in the performance of all building electrical, mechanical, construction or renovation activities, maintenance repair and/or demolition.

Supervisory duties include but are not limited to: assigning and inspecting work, approving/denying leave requests ensuring adequate staffing coverage; monitoring and addressing employee performance within the perimeters of the collective bargaining agreement; responding to employee grievances and complaints; tracking and hiring overtime; promoting staff development and training; and maintaining all required supervisory files and documentation.

This position will also estimate annual and special budgetary requirements for the facility maintenance department and utility plant; prepare purchasing documents; control the issuance of equipment and supplies; schedule and review work orders and work for adherence to plan specifications and technical trades and safety standards; and prepare preliminary sketches for maintenance and renovation projects.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

  • Must meet PA residency requirement – For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency
  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; OR six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of
    utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
