St. John’s is seeking a passionate, driven, innovative, servant-oriented leader who can lead with deep personal humility.
This newly created role is a hybrid position focused on providing overall care and support to fulltime staff of St. John’s as
well as oversight to the development, direction, and coordination of programming.
Who are we? St. John’s is a faith-based nonprofit organization focused on honoring the dignity, restoring hope, and
creating lasting change for those who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness in the greater Green Bay area. Our family
of employees feel called to create lasting change. Founded in 2005 as a group of churches seeking to offer shelter to
those who would otherwise be on the streets, St. John’s has grown tremendously while remaining true to our original
mission. Today, there are three distinct campuses/programs (St. John’s Shelter, The Micah Center, and Wellspring) all
focused on addressing community and quality of life issues. We are committed to seeing Green Bay change and we
strive to be an organization that has a positive, identifiable, long-term impact on those who are homeless or at-risk in
our community.
We are looking for someone who:
- Possesses strong communication skills; has the ability to listen actively and provide direction/feedback and
delegate accordingly,
- Is able to ensure and maintain confidentiality throughout the organization, which includes clear, positive and
discreet communication regarding corrective behavior needs, actions, and consequences to staff and/or guests,
- Can balance both great attention to detail and a broad perspective when addressing systemic issues of
homelessness and poverty,
- Is able to work effectively and cooperatively with guests, volunteers, co-workers and subordinates while
establishing and maintaining professional boundaries,
- Is decisive (organize, effectively prioritize and execute tasks), outgoing and positive.

Essential Functions:
- Promote an environment where each individual is valued and respected, where shelter guests and staff members
feel connected to one another and to the larger St. John’s family.
- Serve with compassion and patience when working with individuals in difficult, crisis situations.
- Empower staff, guests, and community members to address local issues.
- Ensure that guests served through our programs are included in the decision-making process which helps each
guest move toward their own self-sufficiency.
- Confirm potential leaders (i.e. staff and guests) are recognized, empowered, and trained to be successful.
- Build strong and sustaining relationships that translate into successful collaborations and partnerships.
- Keep St. John’s strategic vision at the forefront, cast the vision for direct reports.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of St. John’s in alignment with Christian principles.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate an organization-wide Programming Strategy (to include monthly workshop schedules
and curriculum that provides wraparound support to assist an individual in their journey to self-sufficiency)
amongst St. John’s three locations while continually looking to enhance guest experience.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and create a culture that can adapt to adjusting strategies which
support the ever-changing needs of our guests.
- Nurture a culture of care and respect among guests, staff, and community partners. Tend to morale and
organizational climate issues in seasons when the need is great, and the demands are high.
- Serve as a face of St. John’s at job fairs, resource fairs and other community events. Passionately present on
programs and successes of our organization in various public settings.
- Ensure adherence to the annual budget which supports the financial wellbeing and sustainability of programs and
services offered by St. John’s.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, ministry, organizational leadership or related field required, with a minimum of
three years senior leadership experience supervising seasoned staff and coordinating programs.
- Must have a passion for the mission and population served by St. John’s
- Excellent Computer Skills
