The Assistant Director of Academic and Career Coaching position reports to an Associate Director of Academic and Career Coaching within the Belk College of Business. This individual is tasked with counseling students through the self-assessment, career exploration and major selection process, serving as a resource for students regarding degree requirements and policies, assisting students in developing career readiness plans, directing students to academic support and other campus resources, and managing administrative tasks that help the Niblock Student Center implement its mission and document its progress.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master?s degree in career counseling, student development, higher education, or business is required along with 1-2 years of experience in business or student counseling at an academic institution. The candidate should demonstrate a professional demeanor that establishes credibility quickly, inspires confidence and builds positive relationships. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality is required. Outstanding presentation skills enabling effective, influential communication with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, alumni and business community is vital to this position. Attention to detail, task orientation and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently to achieve institutional goals and objectives is expected. Proficiency with various computer applications, Microsoft Office, and web technology are essential skills.
