Vice President of Sponsorship, Marketing, & Communications
Job Summary ADKSC seeks a visionary sponsorship, marketing, and communications professional who serves a key leadership role for the Adirondack Sports Council in preparation for the 2023 World University Games. The Vice President of Sponsorship, Marketing, and Communications reports to the Project Director and is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term sponsorship, marketing, and communications vision for the WU2023 and promoting its unique position in the marketplace. Responsibilities include planning, development and implementation of all marketing strategies, marketing communications, both external and internal, as well as managing and overseeing the sponsorship sales agency to ensure achievement of sponsorship goals in relation to the 2023 World University Games. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Marketing & Communications Committee comprised of a group of senior officials.
Principle Accountabilities:

  • Sponsorship sales, marketing, and communications
  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
  • a comprehensive marketing, communications and, sponsorship program that will establish ADKSC and WU2023 brand, position and financial viability within the marketplace and the general public
  • facilitate internal and external communications
  • all Organization marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth.
  • Ensure financial success on the sponsorship development front
  • Ensure articulation of ADKSC and WU2023 desired brand position, assure consistent communication of brand position to all constituencies, both internal and external. This includes the promotion of NYS, Adirondacks, Lake Placid.
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Organization publications.
  • Coordinate media interest and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
  • Coordinate the appearance of all marketing and communication collateral, including print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures etc.
  • Coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the Adirondack Sports Council and the 2023 Organizing Committee, including managing and overseeing the Marketing & Communications Committee.
  • Leads projects as assigned, such as environmental cause-related marketing and special events.
  • Responsible for the achievement of sponsorship and marketing financial objectives. Ensure that evaluation systems are in place related to these goals and objectives and report progress to the Project Director, Board, and Marketing & Communications Committee.
  • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets in conjunction with the Finance Administrator for the sponsorship/marketing/communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  • Keep informed of developments in the fields of sponsorship, marketing, and communications especially related to not-for-profit.

Qualifications Required:

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and sponsorship activities.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and sales skills.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Out-of-town, overnight travel is required.

Other:

  • Minimum of 10-years experience in marketing, communications, and/or sponsorship with demonstrated success.
  • Bachelors degree in journalism, marketing, communications preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
  • Experience working with volunteers is desirable.
  • Sport business related experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of New York State is preferable
  • Will consider NYC, Albany or Lake Placid for job locations.
