Summary

Responsible for the company’s end to end driver hiring process and setting strategies to support the company’s mission, vision and values.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads development and implementation of strategic tactics.
  • Determines and evaluates the strategic direction and objectives of the recruiting department.
  • Lead and mentor all members of the Recruiting team with a focus on people management capability, industry knowledge and innovation.
  • Identifies new and creative ways to source viable candidates including contact lists, database leads, internet resources and personal networking.
  • Reduce cost and time per hire by increasing efficiency through innovation.
  • Develop strategies to attract qualified professional drivers. Execute the desired mix of company drivers and independent contractors within the fleet growth plan.
  • Assist the company’s advertising agency in the development of creative themes and media placement strategies for maximum hiring efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Design, implement and maintain processes, tools, and systems needed to scale and support the recruiting team in the short and long-term.
  • Oversees participation in trade shows, job fairs, truck driving school relationships and other public relations or recruiting events.
  • Works with various industry support groups such as PTDI, ATA and TCA to maintain positive industry image and stay abreast of industry issues that can potentially impact drivers and/or the hiring process.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations and policies impacting all driver services functions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent experience required. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.

Experience

  • 7-10 years management experience

  • Previous experience in driver recruiting and basic knowledge of DOT regulations preferred.

Skills/Certifications

  • Proven leadership and negotiation skills
  • Superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FMCSR as they relate to selection, placement, training and employee relations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resource laws as they relate to drivers
