Summary:
This role is responsible for working in collaboration with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Healthcare decision makers, Clinicians, Academic Institutions, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and internal stakeholders, to oversee the development of a scalable and standardized fit-for-purpose Medical Education framework. The role is also responsible for the content and channels of delivery aligned to specific therapeutic areas to successfully support our Customers and their learning pathways. It is also responsible for capturing the learning needs of the HCPs, as assessed by the Regional Medical Education teams, into the content to deliver. The VP will also be responsible for setting the strategy to manage societies and fellowships.
In parallel, he or she will be responsible for implementing the Medical Education strategy for the Americas region. Responsible for providing leadership of all Medical educational activities and services including courses, visitations, anatomical surgical courses, literature service, web-based service etc. in the region and at cluster level by leading the clusters’ Medical Education Directors
Essential Functions:
Develop the strategic direction and educational roadmap for Medical Education with ownership for Content Development according to the company strategy and to the HCPs learning needs.
Drive innovation in learning; maximizing opportunities for blended, flexible learning solutions that truly meet the needs of our Customers in an ever changing, fast pace environment.
Meet internal key stakeholders to identify the clinical practice gaps and where opportunities for improvement need to be met by the creation of new Medical Education programs.
Define a strategy for society and fellowship management and lead the relationship with the Global Societies
Liaise closely with the Global Lab Management and Course Delivery Director to ensure seamless implementation of training concepts and design.
Define selection criteria of attendees, faculty and venue by ensuring alignment to training learning objectives. Assure the influence for meaningful attendee selection among commercial teams.
Ensure adherence to quality, regulatory and compliance policies.
Develop and ensure implementation of educational strategy for the region and measure the performance to evaluate effectiveness and success.
Develop appropriate and innovative MedEd programs according to global, regional and country specific requirements.
Prepare annual educational budgets and allocate educational targets
Ensure compliance with all educational services at regional, cluster and country level and negotiate educational contracts with health care professionals, implement the contracts and manage them accordingly
Coordinate consulting contracts and provide liaison activities with Marketing, R&D, Clinicals and Professional Affairs
Maintain an active role with educational key opinion leaders and teaching institutions. Develop and manage relationships with surgeon champions including consulting agreements and support activities (in coordination with Global MedEd and Marketing)
Manage a team of Content Managers and Medical Education (performance, development and succession planning). Validate Content Managerâs recommendations for training format and channel.
Evaluate post-training intelligence and adjust training models accordingly.
Provide monthly reports/ insights on effectiveness of training and adoption across all the business units.
Conduct competitive training analysis and develop SN training content SWAT.
Requirements:
- Educational and marketing background preferable, medical background is an advantage
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, required
- 15 years proven experience in curriculum development and medical education and of good management skills proven.
- Medical Device/Pharmaceutical experience highly desirable
- Expert knowledge of continuing professional development, adult education principles, and instructional design.
- Experience managing a remotely based diverse team
- Leadership skills, planning, process management, clinical knowledge, product knowledge, customer focus, building effective teams. Driving for results, strategic agility, and business acumen.
- Strong communication skills.
