RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Jersey City, New Jersey. Multiple positions available. Lead small teams in Agile methodology through all the stages of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including providing work estimates and raising critical project issues such as technical/project risks. Guide the implementation of new and emerging technologies (i.e. Java, SQL, enterprise workflow, RESTful services, graph databases, NoSQL, distributed computing, event sourcing) to ensure that they meet business objectives, while integrating with the current landscape of application functionality. Understand current and future applications and technology architectures relevant to GS Private Wealth Management (PWM) technology. Define and analyze moderately complex problems, and lead design sessions by presenting logical statements of business problems, and offering and incorporating ideas. Design technologies, develop project plans, identify key milestones, and address critical technical or resources allocation issues that may arise. Work directly with stakeholders and analysts in defining new application requirements, resolving project issues, and providing technical perspective to strategic business planning. Apply knowledge of the financial industry and products and services of the Firm, specifically those offered by PWM, to resolve system issues. Provide technical guidance, leadership and mentorship to junior teammates. Participate in internal technology committees and recruiting efforts. Must be willing to work with proprietary technologies. No knowledge of a proprietary technology is required pre-hire.

Job Requirements: Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience with a Master’s degree or five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in the job offered or in a related software development position. Prior experience must include three (3) years of experience with a Master’s degree or five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree with: Working with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for development and project plan estimates, including gathering requirements, designing, developing, reviewing, building, testing and deployment of commercial scale software changes; Programming using a modern high-level language such as Java, including experience with multi-threading environment, JDBC, functional programming, Generics and Collection framework; Working on multiple development projects concurrently, including experience with distributed systems; Developing design patterns, using Object Oriented Programming and applying best practices of coding; Communicating independently and directly with global end-users and stakeholders to resolve issues and identify solutions; Working with scalable real-time solutions with coding experience in both server side and web facing technologies; Writing complex queries and defining data models using Sybase, Oracle, MySQL or other relational databases; Performing Object-Oriented application development (such as Java or another OO language) and design patterns and programming in the Linux, Unix, and Windows environments; Leveraging technologies such as Apache Kafka REST APIs, or supporting databases to support distributed applications built using Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Development (CD) Tools and Techniques; Business Process Modelling Notation and related enterprise workflow technology; Developing browser-based applications with HTML5, JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React; Developing software in a financial domain; and Developing software with test driven approach using tools such as Junit, Selenium, or Fitnesse.
