Summary:

The Technical Program Manager (TPM)/Scrum Master plans and manages the software product development cycle using the Software Development Lifecycle and Best Practices in Program Management. In general, the (Technical Program Manager (TPM)/Scrum Master) is responsible for driving business and system requirements to writing specification to driving the overall project across all of engineering, business development, user experience & design, QA, and more.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops Project Plans, Sprint Plans and Roadmaps (ex. innovative solutions for product management)
  • Identifies areas of improvement and suggests/executes action plan for Software Development and Improvements
  • Consults management on Project and Product Roadmaps
  • Accountable for project deadline across multiple projects within the business unit, Quality Deliverables and continuous tracking
  • Will Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coach the team to higher levels of Maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Will take ownership of the project. Sometimes this means building high-level strategic initiatives, sometimes this means rolling up your sleeves and diving into the technical details.
  • An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional/technical specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
  • Required to have a strong comfort-level communicating throughout all levels of the organization
  • Understand, support and execute all work according to the established procedures of the organization
  • Implements and maintains department policies and standards
  • Project based assignments as requested


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field
  • Years of experience 8+ years (Level IIII; usually a leader and/or subject matter expert with the ability to work across multiple roles)
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete the Nortek Security and Control hiring process requirements which include background and drug testing
  • Demonstrable Technical Program Management experience and Scrum Master Expertise
  • Demonstrable Technical Program Management experience in a related industry
  • Will Guide and coach the Scrum team and organization on how to use agile / Scrum practices and values, to think in terms of priority and backlog, and how to get the most out of self-organization
  • Understanding of SDLC methodologies, SCRUM, Waterfall, Agile
  • Computer literacy required

    • Experience managing efforts in Unix/Linux environments, distributed systems and/or developing large scale web applications
    • A first-hand working knowledge of current web technologies
    • Experience with business applications such as Word, Excel and Project
    • Experience developing internet products and technologies in technical capacity such as TPM, SDM or as technical lead.
  • Experience with AWS and Cloud Computing
  • Strong written communication and verbal skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, establish department/discipline goals and objectives for self
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and eager to succeed
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements and prioritize tasks
  • The ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise and to work with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Results oriented person with a strong delivery focus who can work independently and collaboratively with global teams


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with HIPPA compliance
  • Prior experience in Biomedical devices
  • Prior experience in Firmware development
  • Prior experience with Service Oriented and Resource Oriented Architectures
  • Prior experience with high-scale or high-availability systems
