Responsible for the overall quality management of the RSS program, ensuring that the program operates in accordance with applicable plans and procedures, Department of Energy (DOE) orders and standards, consensus standards (e.g. ANSI, ISO) and the requirements established by the DOE Laboratory Accreditation Program (DOELAP).
Will report to the RSS Director on the adequacy and effectiveness of the QA program, perform periodic assessments as described in the RSS quality assurance plan. Responsible for providing expertise and guidance in the interpretation of government regulations, regulatory guidelines and site policies and procedures. Prepare and conduct annual internal RSS quality assurance audits/reviews.
Verify that staff performing quality-affecting activities has appropriate training, qualifications or certifications; that adequate records of staff training are maintained and that qualified staff are assigned to appropriate tasks.
Responsible for assuring that all aspects of the program are performed in accordance with the RSS Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) and that the QAPP is maintained and updated on schedule.
Assist and coordinate in the issuance of Issue Identification Forms (IIF) for all of the programs, assist RSS management in determining root causes and corrective actions for IIF, provide training to RSS management on IIF system and processing of IIFs. Provide RSS management with routine updates on the status of IIF corrective actions and assure that RSS has no delinquent IIFs.
Review, approve, write and maintain (as necessary) the procedures for the four RSS programs; Hanford Radiological Records Program (HRRP), Hanford Radiological Instrumentation Program (HRIP), Hanford External Dosimetry Program (HEDP) and Hanford Internal Dosimetry Program (HIDP). Ensure that procedures are incorporated into the MSA procedure system, assign and manage SMEs for RSS procedures.
Formulate the RSS assessment program, ensure that scheduled assessments are identified and tracked, participate as appropriate in assessments.
Responsible for identifying needed training, tracking of training for RSS personnel and working with training schedulers to resolve training issues. Will work closely with RSS management to prepare and create On-the-job training (OJT)/On-the-job evaluator (OJE) to assure that RSS personnel are adequately trained to perform job activities.
Will track all training for RSS personnel to assure that training and training plans are up to date and meet the need of the four RSS programs.
Provide RSS software quality related implementation assistance and review. Approve all software purchases and uses for the RSS organization.
Basic Qualifications
– BS in Science and 10 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous corrective action experience
- Previous program management experience
- Previous DOELAP program experience
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills

– Masters degree in Science
- Previous experience in Hanford operations or Quality Assurance
