Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a VFX environment
  • Direct experience with large project oversight.
  • Direct experience with budgeting, cost projections, and throughput analysis.
  • Direct experience with script breakdown and bidding.

Amazon Studios is the television development and production arm of Amazon. We make and deliver Originals content for Prime customers. Over the past 5 years, we have debuted award-winning and ground-breaking programming like Transparent, The Man in the High Castle, The Grand Tour, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The WW Production & Operations team covers physical production, post production, and localization of series and movies globally.
We are looking for a Head of Visual Effects to oversee the VFX needs of our scripted episodic programming. This role will work closely with development, physical production and post production to help create an outstanding viewing experience across a variety of ambitious shows. Responsibilities will include, but certainly not be limited to, the following:

  • Advising on approaches for look development and early project visualization
  • Providing early consultation on projects’ visual effects scope, budgets and approach
  • Demonstrating knowledge and fluency with respect to regional VFX rebates and tax incentives
  • Building a strong holistic strategy for VFX execution across a wide variety of titles with varying needs
  • Cultivating and maintaining a network of vendor and talent relationships across the VFX industry
  • Working closely with internal post-production and technology teams to improve VFX workflows

While engaging in these responsibilities, the Head of Visual Effects will be expected to be constantly evaluating, refining and improving internal processes to boost efficiency, quality of content, and operational precision. Exploring and embracing new technology should be a passion as well.

  • Experience in various television/film VFX environments
  • Experience with International Versioning and Dubbing workflows
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency running efficient and productive meetings
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Common sense, great judgment, and a good sense of humor
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
