Asst Director News

Cox Media Group – Jacksonville has an opening for Assistant Director of News 104.5 WOKV. You will develop and execute strategy for flawless execution of newscasts, oversee daily assignments and story coverage, and serve as guide and coach of our on-air news team. You will also aid in planning coverage of special news events. Your daily assignments will include production and reporting or anchoring of breaking news, severe weather, and top local and national news stories as they develop. This includes conducting interviews, editing audio, writing stories for air and also for digital assets.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees daily assignment sheet and communication of story coverage starting at 12pm

• Develops and executes strategy for flawless execution of newscasts during the afternoon

• Guides and coaches afternoon anchor, producer, traffic team

• Strategizes and communicates special coverage, staffing, events with ND and PD

– Produces local and national stories that will run throughout the afternoon – Conducts phone interviews, edits sound, produces stories

• Enterprises stories, both local and national, that will be part of afternoon and evening newscasts

• Maintains contact with Action News Jax assignment desk to identify daily collaboration opportunities with stories, assignments, investigations

• Fills in as anchor or producer when there are absences

• Writes stories for WOKV.COM

• Follows social media style guide for posting to Facebook, Instagram, You Tube

• Is available to anchor live or recorded breaking news updates during 4, 5, 6pm newscasts

• Produces and edits voicers/wraps that will run in the next day’s morning news; including 2 audio teases and web script

• Oversight of daily and long-range assignments
